Sales Engineer Job Description

The Sales Engineer will be the primary technical resource for the field sales force. The SE is responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for TerraGo products. The SE must be able to articulate TerraGo’s technology and product positioning to both business and technical users. Must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.

Responsibilities

Responsible for development and delivery of product demonstrations

Responsible for representing the product to customers and at field events such as conferences, seminars, etc.

Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs

Able to convey customer requirements to Product Management teams

Able to travel throughout sales territory.

Qualifications

Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in software sales and knowledge of Geospatial technology. Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base. Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports. Organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches. Must be prepared for extensive travel at times.

3-5+ years relevant experience in vendor sales and GIS

Experience and familiarity of TerraGo products and line of business a plus

A B.S. in Computer Science or a related field is strongly preferred

Title: Customer Care Manager
Position reports to: Sr. VP, Sales

Scope:

The Customer Care Manager will be responsible for managing, developing and training a team of Sales Engineers (SE’s) that support pre-sale, software implementation and customer support across the enterprise. The Customer Care Manager will help the sales team to drive opportunities to successful completion.

Responsibilities:

• Manage, develop, lead and train a team of Sales engineers to support pre-sale and software implementation
• Responsible for developing and implementing processes and procedures that provide consistently positive, profitable results and timely management visibility for pre-sales, software implementation and customer support
• Prioritize and manage SE resources to help close sales opportunities and achieve sales quotas
• Gather pre-sales technical information on the customer’s requirements and IT infrastructure needs
• Deliver technical product and solutions training to SE’s and the sales team
• Develop and maintain a demo lab with evaluation hardware and software for SE training, sales team training, and customer demos
• Deliver technical presentations of new solution offerings to new and existing customers
• Engage with the Company’s sales managers to assist in providing sales-oriented product training to sales team

Requirement:

• 3-5 years managing pre-sales engineering team
• 5+years of pre-sales support experience
• Deep experience in managing technical sales, delivery and customer support in solution-oriented software companies
• Able to convey customer requirements to product management teams
• Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
• Sales acumen; skilled working in fast-paced selling environments with direct customer interaction
• Strong interpersonal skills, positive management style and excellent cross-functional team building a must
• Strong presentation and communication skills in wide-ranging forums including client-facing, emails, RFPs, and/or demos at field events such as conferences and seminars
• Organized and analytical
• Comfortable working in a growing start-up environment and bring leadership, intelligence and innovation to work every day
• Excellent project and time-management skills
• Travel up to 25% as needed

Education:

• BS in computer science, geography, GIS or equivalent

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of geospatial technologies, mobile software and/or IT applications desirable
• Experience working in defense, intelligence, public safety, agriculture, utilities, O&G and/or utilities a plus
