I lived in Germany from 1977 through 1986 and taught myself to speak (with a Stuttgart Schwaebisch accent) and write German well enough to teach basic German. I now teach at the Coll of Southern MD. I look fwd to meeting with other German speakers.
After 25 years since returning from German (ten years there and in Luxembourg), my facility in German is not what it once was. These meet-ups are most beneficial to me and to increasing my ability to teach conversational German classes...actually a German language survival course for those who plan to visit Germany or other German-speaking areas. I Have obtained help from Wilfried Eckstein of the Goethe Institut in reviewing two documents I developed for my students in the German class I teach. My gratitude is extended to him. I presented two sets to attendees this past Samstag Abend.
