Are you German, if so what area?
Only a quarter. Also, I have never studied German formally--that is, under a teacher. I worked my way through one good textbook and some CDs. I do have a good "ear" for languages (e.g. French, which I do speak well), but, before I would come even to one of your no doubt friendly and "non-judgmental" soirees, I would need to do some further study and brushing up--which I am fully up for! For the nonce, I think that just getting a sense of the kind of things that I could take part in if I keep brushing up my German will serve as inspiration, but I may not, as I imply, make appearances in the very near future.
