Cleveland Museum of Art

Talking with a couple people last night, it seems there is some interest in visiting the Art Museum and perhaps stretching our vocabulary a bit more. General admission is free and there are a lot of good restaurants etc. in the area should we want to do that afterwards.

I love this idea Nicolaus! My daughter is two and we'd love to expose her to other small kids that also speak German!!My husband is a native speaker and I am fluent..

It was absolutely lovely meeting some of you at the museum ! So sorry that my daughter and I had to leave so early and could not meet up with you afterwards.
Best wishes to all and a wonderful Valentine's Day !

I always enjoy the art museum. I apologize for not hanging out with the group at the end, that was a lot of walking for me and I get kinda moody when I'm like that and the rest of the group shouldn't have to deal with that. If anyone has an idea on the date for the game night that would probably be a much better event for me to attend, I'm sure I'll be much more chipper at the end of that one.

Bummer. maybe we can find a local community center that we can use free or maybe little cost? A game night sounds like fun for a regular meetup if we can find a place like that. And enough people want to show up.

28 Leute?

Treffpunkt: I suggest we meet in the area where one purchases tickets for exhibits on the first floor. The entry is at the "back" of the building, across from the Cleveland Botanical Garden/CWRU's Law School/The Natural History Museum, depending upon the direction you face. One can park on the street or use the parking garage attached to the museum. If you use the garage, there is and entryway on a lower level, but it's easy to find your way to the first floor. The museum has a pretty good restaurant as well. Some might find the food (sandwiches, salads, and various drinks) a bit pricey, but I think it's reasonable. That would save time--we could stay w/in the confines of the museum, and not waste time figuring out where to eat in University Circle--although there are many good restaurants there. If 25 do attend, it might be an effort for any of the restaurants to seat a group larger than10 or 12. We might be able to grab a few tables in the same area at the museum. Just my two cents.

    Wo ist der Treffpunkt/Sammelplatz?

I don't know where it is? But I love the idea of an treffpunkt so I can finally meet you all.

This will be my second attempt in meeting with the German group. My first attempt I ended up drunk trying to conversate with the bar group, who I thought was the German group. And the other times they were too far away.
Fortunately this time we are meeting in a more natural location. It was suggested that all meeting should be in neutral locations so that more members can connect.
    What do you think?

Vielleicht! And that's about as much German as I've spoken in years. :)

I am new to Cleveland, but I don't speak fluent German. My mom is born in Germany (about an hour north of Bremen), and is fluent but I am not. Is it a requirement to speak German for this club?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
