Bring your German heart and soul and eager taste buds to the last public event of 2012 put on by Nature Friends in Oakland, where you'll enjoy authentic Bavarian food, dance to the music of the Karl Lebherz Band, and delight in the Naturfreunde Schuhplattler as they perform their bravura show of traditional dances.
A key attraction at this annual event is the performance of the popular Miners' Dance (Bergknappentanz) with lanterns in a darkened hall. This dance is performed in very few places in America, so watching the Schuhplattler put it on should be a special treat.
This will be an indoor event in the club's dance hall and bar, so I'm unfortunately having to limit attendance to 20 members.
If you RSVP yes, but later cannot attend, please change your status so that someone on the waiting list can take your slot.
I've received word that parking will not be an issue because the dance is not as heavily promoted as the outdoor festivals, so cars should all fit on the lot. There will be an admission fee of $10 per person at the dance hall/bar.
This event is not appropriate for children.
