Hi, thanks for everyone who came and apologies for the Google Maps link as it somehow showed the George Inn Yard instead. I hope not too many went to the wrong venue. Tonight we had:

The next meetup will be in Marylebone at The Harcourt Arms in 2 weeks on Wednesday. I will confirm shortly.

Tut mir Leid!
Hi Damien, schade aber wir sehen uns zum nächsten mal
Hi guys, the room is booked for us at the Old King's Head. This means that it will be easier to talk since we will have our own room upstairs. Just ask the bar staff to open you the door. Beginners are welcome as long as you can at least speak a little. I give coloured stickers so you can identify with whom you can talk more easily.
If this is your first time please make sure you print the "How to go to the Old King's Head" page before coming. This will come in handy if you are lost or forgot the name of the pub etc. My mobile number is[masked], call me if you are in the pub or nearby and can't find us.

I'm a beginner too, but I'll be bringing my dictionary :)

Green sticker for you too
I have the same question - is this a good group for novices?

You'll get a green sticker but you'll have to speak German all evening
I hope to make this as I'm coming into London on Wednesday for work so will hopefully be able to stay in and come to the pub later.
hi,I'm just starting to learn German for 2014 (I know absolutely nothing about the language just yet). Do you think this is the right group for me as a beginner? I'm doing a self-study course. Thanks
Happy New Year,Kim

The George Inn was too crowded. Learners of German need to hear replies because they are not so good at guessing what's being said to them in a foreign language in noisy surroundings. Hope the King's Head is quieter. Terence

Next: Invite friends
You're learning German but you don't know anybody to practice with.
You used to speak German but it's all rusty now and you'd like to practice again.
You're new in town and meeting people who speak German just like seems a great idea.
Join us, we meet twice times a month:
- every 2nd Wednesday at The Old King's Head near London Bridge - main event
- every 4th Wednesday at The Mitre near Lancaster Gate and Paddington Station
We also meet on occasion for a picnic, to watch a German film or a football game when German or a German team plays at The Albion in West Kensington.
The venues and dates might change on occasion as we try new things and some people manage to book our usual haunts before I do.
See you soon, bis bald,
