Get Geeky South Bay Meetup

South Bay Geeks and Creatives, this one’s for you! Come enjoy the company of your own kind! Meet new people! Form alliances that will change the face of…you get the idea. Whether you’re a freelancer or working for The Man, communing with like minded folk is a great idea. Serving the Torrance, San Pedro, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, El Segundo, and Long Beach areas. (We aren't a clique, if you're outside the South Bay you are still very welcome).

The Get Geeky has over 300 members now. We are software engineers, web designers, programmers, writers, toy designers, photographers, and a lot more. And all from the South Bay area. If you are looking to meet smart local people to talk shop, make business connections, or just hang out, then the Get Geeky is your meetup.

The Get Geeky was started on February 10, 2009 (we didn't start using Meetup until much later) and we've been meeting monthly ever since. It was started as a way to replicate the LA Geek Dinner, but for a South Bay crowd. We rotate among the many wonderful bars and restaurants in the South Bay.

For 2014 we're looking to add some new events, but we need your help. If you or your business would be interested in sponsoring a Get Geeky event this year, please get in touch with one of our organizers. We are looking for locations to handle 20-30 people as well.

We hope to see you at the next Get Geeky!

Thanks for organizing Kelly. FYI...for next time if R10 is the hangout, there is lots of free street parking on Diamond and N. Broadway near the RBPD. A 5 minute walk to R10.

Good to know. The place was pretty nice, and free parking would be even better.

Sorry, I could not make it. Sounds like it was tricky to find. I know the area. Perhaps mentioning the parking lot access and the parking validation rules would have helped. At night, it can be hard to find new locations.

I came up to Harbor drive but the numbers were close to 300 and I wasn't sure whether it is a business place or residence so given the state of mind wanted to call someone, but the phone wasn't cooperative, so I rolled.

Upstairs by the bar? I see there's a table reserved. Is that for us?

For tonight we are meeting in the lounge area. This is upstairs and to the right. Plenty of room here and a very cool beach vibe. Looking forward to seeing you all tonight!

Oops, I noticed 7PM as the meeting time. May be an issue since it's after hours. I'll check about that. I do have friends in the area that have big meeting spaces and art galleries that I could inquire about using.

We can meet at my office in San Pedro, on 6th street. Nice, Art Deco style, Brown Bro's building. It's a coop work space like the one in Long Beach. It has a big conference room and big open spaces. Not sure how we you do drinks/food? Maybe I could invite a local restaurant?

I vote for anywhere a little quiet. Would be nice to hear people across a table.
