Get Out Philadelphia is a community of outdoor-type people in the Philadelphia area.
We are here to help you think outside your box...and Get Out more!
We look to both serve as a network for outdoor aficionados and adventure-minded individuals,
and work as a community to help introduce others to the outdoors and outdoor and/or adventure activities.
We support Leave No Trace principles and environmental cleanup and conservation in the places we like to play. smile

We are primarily an outdoor adventure and activity group. We don't go to concerts or meetup just for dinner. We'd rather play outside! We take on new and familiar hiking trails, overnight camping and backpacking trips, things you've always wondered about but never had the chance to do, and maybe some things you've never heard of! We try to do familiar things in a new way, and maybe bring back some old things you haven't done in years.

We're still a very social group. Most of our activities end with a gathering for food. We have a monthly happy hour so you can meet our members before trying something crazy with them. Happy Hours are great places for suggesting new activities and making plans for future shenanigans. In the summer, picnics, BBQs and games keep us outside longer.

Many of our events are geared toward beginners, or first-timers. (In many cases, the event organizer is learning too!) After the first experience, we encourage you to network and suggest future events that will take you to the next level. A number of MeetUps in the Philadelphia area can help you practice your new hobby on a more consistent basis. See the links page for details.

2011 is our second year of non-profit incorporation. After an "implementation" year, we're focusing again on incorporating a "Team Leadership Model" to develop our adventure community and raise awareness of environmental concerns and outdoor activities and opportunities in Philadelphia. Future plans include work with other non-profit organizations and businesses in Philadelphia. Volunteers are needed to help with these community projects; contact Amy if you're interested.
