Meet the Board of Directors!
The Board of Directors meets on the First Wednesday of odd-numbered months.
Dates for 2011: January 5, March 2, May 4, June 25 (tentative), September 7, November 2
Location varies; check the
for where we'll be meeting. Meetings are open to the public, although the locations are usually private. Let us know you're coming!
In January of 2011, as a team-building exercise, the Board members had to interview and write a bio for each other. Each ended up being a whole page within itself! Look for the full page at a later date. But for now, here's a start....
Aaron competing in the Delaware Diamondman Triathlon, September 2010
Bio by Adrienne
Aaron comes to Get Out Philly from Norristown. He has an engineering degree from Drexel University but currently works as a business analyst. Aaron joined the group early on because he was looking to do some neat stuff with interesting people; so far his favorite Get Out activity has been hang gliding. He also keeps busy on his own by rollerblading, riding motorcycles, training for triathlons and collecting comic books. Aaron joined the Board of Directors to help out where he can, but also to try and plan his dream trip to Machu Picchu. An active skier, his favorite vacation spot is Colorado. Aaron is too modest to claim any hidden talents, but given the choice of superpower, he would choose telekinesis.
Adrienne in Acadia National Park, September 2010
Bio by Amy
Adrienne is a Spanish Immersion Teacher in Philadelphia with an MA in Multi-Cultural Education from Eastern University. She's one of Get Out Philly's longest standing active members, having joined the group in 2007. Since then she's racked up miles with us up and down the Eastern Seaboard, from snowboarding the mountains of Vermont to scaling the Via Ferrata in West Virginia. Her lifetime adventure goal is to take a swim in every major body of water in the world, and is hoping to cross the Indian Ocean off her list this summer! Adrienne is a SCUBA diver and when she's not teaching or off adventuring, she practices Aikido, bakes and decorates cakes, and is an aspiring sommelier.

Amy canyoneering in Vilcanota River valley, Peru summer 2009
Bio by Aaron
During the day, Amy’s secret identity is a Marketing Coordinator, although she’d much rather be a summer camp director (if only it paid better!) If you couldn’t guess from her having founded the Get Out Philadelphia Meetup group, Amy loves being outside; kayaking, climbing and snowboarding, just to name a few. She’s even taught kayaking at summer camp, and skiing to 6 year olds. Still on the Bucket List are Tai Chi, SCUBA diving, visiting all the US National Parks, completing a race in every state, hiking the whole Appalachian Trail, and attempting a triathlon. You can follow Amy's adventures and observations on life at
Nishi kayaking in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, July 2010
Environment Team Chair
Tom on Mt. Grey, Colorado, June 2010
Bio by Tom
Tom is a physician, but he'd change his job in an instant if he could make as much money in Search and Rescue or mushing dogs sleds across Alaska. Sadly, these careers have eluded him. Tom has been a Get Out member since late 2007 and an Assistant Organizer for half that time. He is an accomplished musician and has performed and recorded with Boston, Seattle, and Nashville Symphony Orchestras. He presently serves as an Examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Tom is an avid "peak bagger" but will share in anyone else's outdoor activities, anywhere, any season, day or night.
