June Gigonometry Gathering and Showcase Gig!

Well, we've another cracker of a gig for you this month, featuring Lace Weeper, Sal Vitro, Valentine Black and I Am Niamh.

Lace Weeper

First you had Thin Lizzy, then you had U2, watch out for Irelands latest 'next' big thing....

Utilizing heavy guitar based grooves and quirky acoustic melodies, embellished by bluesy solos, a pounding rhythm section and deeply metaphoric & poetic lyrics, Lace Weeper are a band many have been waiting for.

Sal Vitro (Chew Your Own Fat records)

There is no mystical power behind this. Sal Vitro are straight-up, honest Rock ‘N’ Roll. Their driving rock anthems with gritty bluesy vocals see Sal Vitro’s sound drawing each band member’s influences into their song crafting.

Currently in the production of their debut studio album due for release summer 2013, Sal Vitro have matured without losing any of their edgy appeal, with music critics commenting on how “These guys play way beyond their years”.

The future looks bright and Sal Vitro remain focused.

Valentine Black

Valentine’s Day 2012 saw the release of, Kildare native, Valentine Black’s debut album ‘Desire Lines’ on Lewd Minx Records. Named after the natural paths made by people walking through forests or fields, it mixes the heart of Springsteen with the melodies of Bowie and the lush arrangements of Elbow or Arcade Fire. Folk and pop soaked indie-rock songs covering love, loss, modern Ireland and even murder! With thoughtful lyrics and a warm vinyl sound, it’s a wonderful introduction to the straight talking yet romantic world of Mr Valentine Black.

“Bowie and Dylan are evoked in a ten-track effort that swoons and sways with the best of them…Desire Lines is like a love letter to the power of the humble hook…as catchy as anything you’ll hear all year.”

Hot Press March 2012

I Am Niamh

i am niamh, comprised primarily of a Dublin based solo project artist, Niamh Parkinson. Her musical style has be considered Avant-garde, shown through her classically trained voice with idiosyncratic tendencies in her music.

i am niamh has just released her first EP with a sold out launch and continues to receive great praise from the music industry. It got to number 1 in the Music Review Unsigned EP charts.

“This is a very strong EP and is one of the strongest debut releases I’ve ever heard. “i am niamh”, with further releases like this, is no doubt destined for bigger things.”

Enjoyed the the DC Experiment in Sweeneys after as we sang along to great lively songs from the Parallel Universe album. Was a superfantastical night!

Really good gig this month; i am Niamh was sublime, ethereal, and other words like that! We liked her mucho....Valentine Black really did the biz sans drummer and el guitar; well done Pico for a brilliant acoustic set, really got the place rocking....Lace Weeper blew everyone's hair back with their sub-metal set, some follically challenged Gigonometrists may now be bald as a result, but hey, beats going to the barbers. Sal Vitro were a great finishing act; tight as anything, straight down the middle blues rock with hints of the greats (Rory etc) in there, and they really moved it up a notch towards the end as the Gigonometry feet became itchy for dancing...brilliant band to end a superb night.
