So, on Sunday we were idle and decided to head into Saucy Sundays in The Grand Social, which turned out to be the most wonderful evening of music; great new Cork based talent Stephanie Rainey kinda blew us away with her amazing songs, voice and attitude, and then up stepped old pal Johnny Rayge, who completed the bathing of our ears with his aural honey, complete with excellent 5-piece backing band. Johnny's voice is splendid, his whistling ain't bad either, and his songs are both tender and rocking, sometimes simultaneously!!
Johnny launches his much anticipated debut album Vigil on Friday in The Button Factory, with support from ex-Gigonometry performer Sinead White & Deco Greene, who are going to 'do some magic duet' to open, then the fabulous Glasshouse Boys, and Johnny tell's us that there'll also be a 30-piece choir on board for much of the set!
Let's make it to this one and help make it a night to remember!!
"Bleedin' Banging" - Eoin Murphy (The Sun)
"Slick" - Richard Hawley (The Star)
"A fine vocal from Johnny Rayge" - Jackie Headen (Hot Press)
