GDI Hack Night

Bring all your projects, ideas and questions for a night hanging out and working with other friendly coders. Any language, niche or skill level (including absolute beginners!) is welcome.

Don't have a project yet? Just decided to start learning to code? Interested in finding out what Girl Develop It Columbus is all about? Great! Come to Hack Night - you'll fit right in. :)

If we're lucky, Head Chef Carl will also be making us dinner! (Look for a note from Carl in the Meetup comments below to find out if dinner will be provided.)

----

Lastly, a big shout-out to our Hack Night sponsor, CoverMyMeds! They're a fantastic company that helps doctors and pharmacists improve patients' lives. (And they also, coincidentally, have an amazing in-house chef.) Basically, we're huge fans, so go check them out!

So much fun! I was totally impressed. I'm definitely going to the next GDI Hack Night. A great vibe and the people were friendly, supportive and we had some amazing lentil soup & dessert cobbler to top it off. Whuuut? Yessss! :D

This will be my first time attending Hack Night. Not sure what to expect. I just signed up for a html class online and it would be great to do some "homework" during Hack Night. If there's going to be food, it would be great if the food wasn't sloshy and wet, like string pasta spaghetti. I'm down for eating anything that doesn't pose the threat of my computer getting splattered. Thanks to Head Chef Carl for cooking! See you all tomorrow night!

You can always find people willing to talk and show you what they're working on if you don't have time to go get your own computer. I personally tend to spend a lot more time talking (and eating) :). So don't worry if you need to come without a laptop!

Unfortunately I don't have enough time to go back home & get my laptop. :( I'm running late from work as it is, so i'll try to be there by 7:30pm. See you all soon. :D

This is also my first time attending. I'd love to bring my 19 yr old daughter along - just home from freshman year in college. She's taken "intro to programming", interested in game development and wondering what else she can do with it. Would this be a good event to bring her to?

    May 28, 2014

    • Kim

Absolutely! She would definitely be welcome. We're a diverse group (with at least one game development major) and can speak to the variety of programming career options/applications.

    Any requests for dinner?

Food? :-P I'm really not picky when someone else makes food...

I miss pretzels. Also cobbler. And that time you made that Brioso-like lentil soup.

Hi - I'm 100% a beginner, but interested in getting started. Does it make more sense for me to join this or the organizational meeting?

Hack Night would be a perfect place to start! See you next month. :)
