Who is your favorite author?

Thomas Hardy, a fellow Dorset native. A tragic romantic, even his prose is poetry.

What is your favorite book?

Tess of the d'Urbevilles. A lament to the loss of the un-mechanised rural idyll and an attack on the imbalances of sex and class in Victorian society.

Any recommendations for up coming book club meetings?

The Fountain Head, Ayan Rand (if only to force me to finish this mammoth but fascinating philosophical manifesto/romantic novel) Return of the Native, Thomas Hardy. A dark portrayal of female empowerment.

I am a professional ecologist recently moved to London. As a born and raised country girl moving to London is a little daunting so looking forward to meeting some new people, sharing some wine, and discussing new books.
