GIS Day @ Berkeley's Geospatial Innovation Facility

2013 GIS Day @ GIF, UC Berkeley

http://gif.berkeley.edu/gisday.html

Come join us at one of two GIS Day events in the Bay Area on Nov. 20th!  These events represent our first chance as meetup members to meet each other in person, share ideas, and discuss the latest happenings in the Bay Area mapping scene.

This year's event at Berkeley is hosted by the Geospatial Innovation Facility. We are co-hosting, with additional support from the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing NorCal (ASPRS) and the Bay Area Automated Mapping Association (BAAMA).  If you want to present a poster or give a presentation, the call for presenters is still open!  Apply here.

GIS Day provides an international forum for users of geographic information systems (GIS) technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are making a difference in our society. More information on this annual national event can be found at Discovering the World Through GIS.

Looking forward to meeting you all on November 20th!

Your Event Hosts,

Cari W & Kevin Koy

Thanks for your feedback... and glad you both enjoyed some sessions. We will send out the answer to the Map What? map was of (along with who won) early next week.

Would have been nice to have more posters/maps. Maybe could have included current UC Berkeley student projects. Perhaps collaborate with Cal's Geography department, too. I really enjoyed the word mapping presentation, it was very interesting to see how qualitative text and research can be analyzed spatially and with heat maps to show topics of importance.

Wish there were some signs outside; I was not familiar with the location. Need some more maps; I may have something available next year. Being a land surveyor, I enjoyed the Datum session.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
