Announcing a new Meetup for Glass Half Full!

What: Multnomah-Wahkeena Loop Hike

When: Saturday, July 24,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Multnomah Falls
50000 Historic Columbia River Hwy
Bridal Veil, OR 97031

This is a pretty popular trail close to the city. The route takes us through beautiful scenery -- big and little waterfalls, paths along the creek, viewpoints overlooking the Columbia River and the gorge.... The big falls include Wahkeena falls, multnomah falls, The scenery is gorgeous as there are 10 named waterfalls(including multnomah falls, wahkeena falls, fairy falls, ecola...) on this trip as well as countless cascades and intermittent falls.

The hike officially starts at the Multnomah falls parking lot, from where we will walk less than half mile to the Wahkeena trailhead and take the Wahkeena trail, through Wahkeena canyon. The trail will bring us to Larch mountain trail which we will take to come down, thus completing the loop. At about 4.9 miles, this is a good workout, but not too strenous.

I am giving about 4 hours for this hike. I am guessing we should be back shortly after 1 PM, with plenty of time left in the afternoon and evening to do other things. The 1925 Multnomah Falls Lodge is worth checking out, with its skylights and old-style stone and wood construction. The food is decent as well, so maybe after the hike we can go there for drinks or lunch.

We will meet at the Multnomah Falls parking lot, by the gift shop. If you don't see me call me at[masked]-1714.
