Announcing a new Meetup for Glass Half Full!

What: Hike to Pittock Mansion

When: Saturday, October 23,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Lower Macleay Park
2999 NW Upshur St.
Portland, OR 97210

One of the coolest things about living in Portland is how easy it is to leave the city behind and get into woods that are lovely, dark and deep. They are right there!! This hike is a chance to do that and visit a landmark - Pittock Mansion.

This hilly forest escape begins at Lower Macleay Park and takes you through beautiful Balch Creek Canyon and then heads steeply uphill through deep forest to historic Pittock Mansion. From the mansion?s rear lawn we'll have fantastic views of the city, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Hood.

We trail begins at Lower Macleay park, in Portland's Northwest Hills. The Park is located at NW 29th Ave & Upshur St(Zip: 97210). We will meet at the parking lot which is located at the end of Upshur Street. The parking lot fills up on the weekends, so please plan to park on the around on or around 29th, and walk to the parking lot.

The first part of the hike travels along Balch Creek which has some little waterfalls. The trail is heavily wooded and very picturesque. We will pass along some stone ruins which we can stop and explore.

The end of the trail will bring us to Pittock Mansion. The mansion was owned by the Pittock Family that also owned our Newspaper 'The Oregonian.

Entrance to the museum is $8. We will stop here, tour the mansion, enjoy the views and head back.
