This is a group for exploring different cultures and raising awareness of how our actions affect the world. Although we will emphasise on global issues, we will also deal with domestic issues.
One of our topics will be fair trade. We will discuss things like buying chocolate that is made ethically. We will also look at products and how they affect other living creatures. This is not an all-or-nothing group. It is inevitable that we will do some environmental damage. In my jewelery business, we have coral and pearl, which causes some harm to life. However, we will try to take action to reduce this impact to the best of our ability by finding ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle as well as buying items with minimal impact on living creatures.
We will also do fund-raisers and volunteer work for charities such as CARE, Habitat for Humanity, Computers for Africa, and other organizations. Because so many items such as computers are wasted, we will also have drives to collect computers, books, and other items and donate them to charity.
I have another meet-up group previously called International Meet-up Group. They have similar goals, so I am going to merge them soon. I renamed International Meet-up and now call it Global Village. If you are interested in joining, you can go to the link at:
