Settings for the Meetup Mailing List
Friday, April 6, 2007 3:52 PM
Dear IH Meetup Members,
Meetup has added a "mailing list" feature which allows anyone in our group to email all the other members. Some people have expressed concern about the possibility of getting too many emails (like the problem we have doubtless all had with people hitting Reply All all the time).
I think this is a very valid concern and I beg you to be judicious in the amount of emails you send.
Importantly, however, there are some options you can set at the meetup site that can decrease your email:
ALL: From everyone, immediately
DIGEST: From everyone, daily digest (i.e., all messages from that day in one email)
ORG-ONLY: Only special announcements from Organizer(s)
The first option is the default, but setting it to "Digest" would at least mean you wouldn't get swamped, and I believe setting to Org-Only would mean you'd just get the meetup notifications and the organizer messages.
I hope this helps. If the email volume really gets to be a problem, we'll figure something out.
And please do NOT reply to this message unless you really want EVERYONE in the group to get your reply.
Hope to see you all on Tuesday, April 17th.
