Next Saturday, June 4th, LADWP Board of Commissioners and the City Council's Energy and Environment Committee will hold their first ever joint meeting to discuss LADWP's long term energy plan and accompanying financial  plan.  Please join us for a rally for clean energy before the hearing and join us for the hearing to let our decision makers know: Angelenos want a plan to end our addiction to coal!
For those who support the campaign to move Los Angeles beyond coal by 2020 and those interested in seeing the city move forward with cost-effective clean energy solutions that help create jobs here in LA, attending this meeting is essential. LADWP and City Council need to hear from you. Rather than continue to send our customer money to out of state coal plants, we need to start investing in common sense energy efficiency and clean energy programs here in LA that can save customers money on their bills and help put people back into good family wage jobs. We need a long term energy plan that gets us out of coal and moves towards clean energy. This meeting kicks off a multi-month process to lock in that plan. It is essential that they hear from us at the start of the process. Please help us spread the word and join us to let our decision-makers know that you want the city to commit to kicking our coal habit by 2020 now. We'll meet on the steps of the South Lawn of City Hall at 8:30 for a short rally, then walk in together to provide public comments and hear from the city on their plans for the future.

I really enjoyed seeing how the LA City Council and and DWP Board of Commissioners get things done. The turnout was good and lots of people signed up to give comments but there wasn't enough time. I think it was obvious to the City Council just from the turnout that LA voters want renewable energy.

She heard some boring statistical crap from the poweres that be...almost nothing helping the environment in amy majopr way except that are going to invest a new way to cool things down WITHOUT using ocean water!!! YAY. After that, one by one we got up to speak. We had one minute each, so it had to be good. I hope theyheard how serious we are about this. They was ALOT of us green junkies!!!!!!!!!! :)
