Glug Brighton 4

Hi Gluggers

We couldn’t have asked for better weather!
What a great evening to spend on the beach, I expect the the Tour de Glug cyclists will have built up a thirst by the time they arrive. Here are a few of them leaving London earlier today: http://www.youtube.co...

Just a few things to note for tonight:

The Meetup group is now closed for RSVPs. But if you did miss out there, we picked the venue as it has a huge capacity, so we have allowed for plenty of ticket availability on the door. We will also be selling drink tickets on the door for that Notworking experience and If you are drinking outside there is a waiter service.

That’s it
See you at the bar
Love from all the Glug crew at Crush and Agency Rush

It’s looking like it’s going to be another hot and sunny evening for Glug this Friday, we still have some tickets left along with a few more details of what is going on!

In response to feedback on the Meetup we’ve decided to drop the ticket price for this event down to £4 and lose the free networking drink token for each ticket. Obviously for those who’ve bought a ticket already they won’t be affected. We’ll also be selling the drink_ tokens on the door to people as they arrive so we recommend you buy one so that the networking can commence!

This is set to be a great night - talks, live art, graffiti, dj's and a great pop up shop by Castor & Pollux who are offering a 10% discount for all you Gluggers.

We have another treat in store with 'Toy Story Missions' - Join the Jollywise team at Glug in their latest Disney project, a game full of madness, mayhem and marbles. Try and post the highest score on the night and they'll give you some Toy Story Goodies. The Platform game is one of six they created as part of the Toystorymission.co.uk website.

Talks will be kicking off around 7.30 and the line up is as follows

Malcolm Goldie - http://malcolmgoldie....
Studio Conran - http://www.studioconr...
Airside - http://www.airside.co...
Mainframe - http://www.mainframe....

We look forward to catching up with you for a bit of summer sun and notworking!
Lots of love

We still have a few weeks until the next Glug Brighton, so we wanted to shout about our plans for making the next event lean towards a bit more NETworking as well as NOTworking.

The ticket price for Glug Brighton 4 will include the price of your first drink (you were going to have at least one weren’t you?). When you arrive you will be given a drinks token (well half a drinks token)... All you need to do is find someone with the same number as your half a ticket, and bingo - drinks and new friends aplenty!

Hello Gluggers,

We're very pleased to announce advance details of our Glug Brighton Beach Party on the 9th July!

For this special event we're linking up with our Glug London friends at Studio Output and Made Studio.

Glug Brighton 4 will be held at the Coalition on Brighton Beach. 300 London gluggers will be coming down for this brilliant evening which includes talks by the likes of Airside, Mainframe, Studio Conran and Malcolm Goldie. The venue holds up to 600 people in total so with our London brethren it's set to be a pretty special evening.

Some of the London crew have decided to cycle down to the event, so if you're interested in riding with them from sunny Clerkenwell to sunny Brighton email [masked] for further details (they are going to be leaving at 12 midday to get there for the evening event) - Studio teams are more than welcome!

The party at Coalition starts at 6pm - till late. Tickets are £7.50 and will include a free drink.  All profits from the event and from the bike ride will be going to Shelter the homeless trust.

You can buy tickets here now, I'm afraid Glug Brighton only has an allocation of 300 tickets for this, so please get them soon to avoid missing out.

To find out more information about the host of entertainment and speakers we have, please read on.

See you at the bar

being told to be quiet at a networking event was rubbish not being able to take your drinks outside when the venue was a beachfront bar was also rubbish finally getting outside and ordering drinks then finding out you couldn't take them in was the icing on the cake. Wasn't keen on the whole playing cards thing either.

Arrived about 8.30 missed the talks, bought a drink outside had a queen to find a king what a rip off idea, would only work if everyone has to do it,so now i have a lovely souvenir, will not be coming again,i would like to network,i have time to not work being a full time mum!

People just want to get straight to the drinking - especially on a friday afternoon. Consequently the speakers were up against a loud chatty half interested crowd when really they have some great work and well prepared talks to share. Perhaps the meet up would be good in a seated venue where talks can be given to peoples full attention, perhaps running for an hour then drinks after. Mmm thinking cinema with massive bar - does that exist in Brighton?

Bit of an odd venue (personal feeling though, some people I am sure loved it) 'Notworking' felt a bit forced ironically - generally a great night though. Was worth it. Great talks with a wide range of agencies - motion, graphics, experimental. Really interesting. I have been to a fair few talks by Long Lunch - worth checking out for format etc for inspiration. Thank you Glug - keep up the great work - Brighton designers really need this!

Hi. This was my first glug. I really enjoyed it, however, you could hardly hear the speakers. I was lucky to be standing right at the front so could catch it all - but, there would have been no chance if i would have been further back. Perhaps, it needs to be at an alternative venue next time. Sorry no suggestions at hand. Looking forward to the next Glug.

Meeters and greeters perfect. Really enjoyed the presentations and talks. Thought they deserved to be heard which was difficult, even with good sound system, over the chatting. Playing card worked well as icebreaker.
  • Emma Charleston
I really enjoyed myself, although it was at times difficult to hear the talks over people talking.
  • Will Scobie
Had a really good time and the talks were brilliant!
