Glug & Studio Output presents - The Studio launch - 13th April - SORRY SOLD OUT

Wednesday's event is fast approaching and we're getting very excited.

Here's some further information on the format of the evening.

Doors open at 6pm and talks will start at 7.30pm and will be finished by 10pm. We'll have a break in the middle for everyone to fuel up from the bar. We'll have a DJ before and after with the night ending at 12pm.

Drinks tokens will be handed out on the door and our lovely sponsors Source will be giving you your free beers upon entry.

We will be putting chairs out which will be on a first come, first served basis. Village Underground is a nice big space so everyone who wants to, should be able to see the talks.

Unfortunately Rexbox has had to pull out from the live art due to work commitments. However we have the fantastic Will Scobie who has stepped up:

Talk themes

We've got some brilliant talks lined up for the evening. Here is a little taster of what is in store.

Simon Taylor (Tomato) will be taking us through some of Tomato's interactive projects.

Marcus Tanner (WipEout, Sony Liverpool) will be talking through the processes and ideas involved in making the ground-breaking Sony PlayStation game WipEout.

Anthony Burrill will talk to us about how a strong idea can grow beyond 'graphic design' to engage with a wider audience through technology.

Mr Bingo will be giving us some of his observations about the internet.

Jasper Goodall will be talking about his working practice and the possible future of illustration in the light of new media platforms.

If you have bought a ticket please bring a printed receipt from Paypal to gain quicker entry to the venue. We will have a guestlist ordered with first name and surname, as per the name you booked with through PayPal.

Look forward to seeing you down there!

On the night we'll have live art from some of the artists involved in The Studio project. They will be bringing their work to life in a different, more analogue way.

It was very hard to hear anything during the first half, but the second half was very good indeed and the sound problems seemed to be fixed. Mr Bingo was hilarious!

The venue was fantastic and the designers were really talented, but I am still trying to figure out why I paid £10 for a Sony Playstation marketing/launch event.

    Negatives -

    - Microphone problems.
    - Music so loud it made it hard to talk unless you were right at the back.
    - Uncomfy seats!

Positives - - Location was unique, stuff was nicely set out.
    - Some of the speakers were really entertaining.
    - Atmosphere was nice.

Was overall a good Glug with some great speakers though I can't see why it was £10 instead of the usual £5? Bit of s rip off. Just a standard Glug with a few PS consoles scattered around.

The audio was way too quiet to begin with, we were almost considering leaving. When Antony B Stood up on stage and captured the audience, silencing the crowd right up to the bar, it was really enjoyable! Those last 3 speakers captured the audience really well. I think the venue is great but its not fair on speakers to have a bar so close, where people chat and put them off. All speakers deserve the same level of silence out of respect. It also makes is a much more enjoyable experience for us!
The night turned good and we were really pleased we'd stayed! Thanks x
