Here we are this year again with some new concerts! Nicolas Angelich is coming to town on Wednesday for the first piano concerto of Chopin. I have heard him several times over the years, and he is up there and plays with his own colours. Really beautiful. I always thought he was shy despite his imposing stature, likely why he has preferred to go down the way of teaching at the conservatoire de Paris rather than the grand tours.
For the rest of the program, the Finnish conductor will play the Finnish composer Sibelius. Also great to my ear. Sibelius is in the direction of say Mahler but with some more fables and myths to dream on.
The concert is at the Tonhalle, tickets can be bought on www.tonhalle-orchester.ch. Or call directly the Tonhalle on[masked] 34. This is the fastest and takes two minutes.
I suggest we all take places on the 'GALLERIE LINKS' as those are cheap, about 35chf, and their should be enought for all of us. If you dont get one there, no worries we will meet at the break.
We will go for drinks afterwards if we feel like it.
