YULE / Winter Solstice Celebration @ Ma'at's Temple

  • Dec 28, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

UPDATED and Improved with even greater Karma Cleaning Power!

Ma'at's Temple welcomes all to join and celebrate the Longest Night as the Year Wheel re-turns towards the Sun!

The Yule Log was lit (see photos) and the Fire tended all night to welcome the Sun's re-birth along with Ice and Snow...delaying our Celebration. Fear Not! I hope everyone agrees that a party between the 25th and New Year is a great time for sharing the Spirit of the Holidays.

The flames of the Yule Log will illuminate our hearts while sharing stories of the Oak & Holly King, of Inanna and her decent / return, the re-birth of Osiris and many others.

In addition, we will pass the Holly Crown of Light from the Oldest (Crone) to the Youngest (Maiden).

There will be a chance to release what needs gettin' gone into the Flames of Forgiveness.

... and lastly; rumor has it a certain Jolly Ol' Elf will show up to help with the Ritual, now that his work is finished for the Year!

TO SHARE: Bring a donation for the less fortunate (food, toys, ect) to be donated to Operation Holiday. There will be a 'White Elephant' gift exchange trade off, so break out that flying monkey ashtray you never use and get rid of it! (make sure it's under wraps).

FEASTING! (Bring some favorite) - cups, plates and wares will be on hand, but if you have a favorite Wassel cup, who are we to argue?

SONG! (You already know at least one of 'em)

Bring yur Drums and musical thing-ama-bobs (we have a lot of 'bonker' stuff).

An after -event Sauna will be available for sweating out those toxins - bring a suit and towel.

As before, if you have special needs or concerns, let us know. A sitter is available for a $5.00 contribution. There will be a warm place to enjoy the Feast and German Wassle will be offered along with teas and fruit beverages. Dress your best but make sure it's weather appropriate. Blessed Be!

Lovely ritual in a lovely temple led by a lovely priest with many lovely people taking part and learning.

Thank you Lettie. It was time to come of out of my shell. I am trying to remember names and put them with faces - but there were so many new faces. It will be easy to remember T-Mel I think because of her laughter. Didn't get a name for the fellow with the risqué sense of humor and the allergies to odors like I have. I missed seeing Holly, at least that would have been someone I've met before.

Sherry / Lettie; I'll try to have some 'name tags' for the nest meetup, but since a lot of people like to use a 'craft' name or alias I'm having a hard time keeping track as well! Oh - and Sherry - I'm a caretaker, not a priest. But thank you for the compliment anyway. I hope you can attend again if this speaks to you. Blessings!

It's always a little tougher to have a celebration AFTER the actual deadline passed, but I'm hoping most everyone enjoyed the ritual anyway...even if I DID space out the 'passing of the crown of light'! Thanks to all who attended - may your new year be one filled with love and encouragement as we each seek to understand our path in greater depth for 2014.

What is the easiest way to get to the location I am coming from out of town from Wellington

    December 28, 2013

    • Sherry F.

The easiest and fastest would be to take I35 north - get off at 47th St South. Go west on 47th StSo one and half miles to Seneca, turn right (north) on Seneca. Go three and a half miles north on Seneca to May St. Turn left (west) and go six blocks west to Millwood. Looks like Bruce's house is on the northwest corner of Millwood and May.

I'd really like that Sherry. Bless you. Diverticulitis is very painful. Blessed Be!

    December 28, 2013

    • Sherry F.

Yes, my mom, gramma and my ex all had it, I know it's painful. I really sympathize as I'm having intermittent pain myself from trigeminal neuralgia. I am lighting a candle for the blessing of the universe to bring health and healing for both of us.

    December 28, 2013

    • Sherry F.

Sorry to hear that. I've known people with diverticulitis, that's no fun at all. If you'd like, I'll send some Reiki energy to you for healing.

Uh oh, got a little too eager I think. I should have made sure this event will be safe for me - I have extreme allergies to scented candles and some incense (also perfume and aftershave). Oh well, I'll have my little mask in my pocket to wear if needed. Might look strange but it beats getting sick.

    December 28, 2013

    • Sherry F.

Thanks for the response. I've never had a bad reaction to camphor before - although it's not my favorite. ;) If you would please use unscented candles I would appreciate that. It seems like such a long time since I've had a chance to mix and mingle and celebrate a Sabbat. Will we be indoors or outside?

ALL ATTENDEES: DUE TO DANGEROUS ROAD CONDITIONS DEVELOPING THROUGHT THE DAY the Yule Celebration for this evening is CANCELLED and will be re-scheduled for next Sat., Dec. 28th. Same times, same Celebration and same Wassel. Gifts for Operation Holiday will still be accepted, and don't forget the White Elephant gift exchange. In the meanwhile, lit a candle at sunset, sing some of the songs in the 'Yule Songbook' under the 'More/files' section and enjoy the snow. Blessed Be the Returning Light!

I am in the process of securing a large enough piece of Oak for the Yule Log. If any one has access to mistletoe (the REAL stuff) or a lot of Holly bows please let me know - I want to have enough to make a wreath for the Maiden Queen's Headpiece.
Also, feel free to drop in even if you miss the Circle, which will be fairly short. I intend to stay up all night to welcome the Sun's return so if you see the torches still lit it means 'Come On In for some Wassle!"

ALL YULE ATENDEES PLEASE READ: Due to recent WEATHER projections of freezing rain and ICE on top of SNOW the Yule event MIGHT be postponed until the following weekend. As a professional driver it's my obligation to keep everyone safe. That said, this weather system is unusually difficult for the local meteorologists to predict at this time. So, I will make the call on either going forward or postponing our event on Sat. morning. PLEASE CHECK IN ON SAT. MORNING FOR THE DECISION or call me @ (316) 993-4654.
I hope everyone agrees it's better to play it safe on this storm system - and IF the event is rescheduled it won't be so bad, as that would place the Celebration between observances on the 25th and the traditional New Year.
It seems Loki may be throwing up a roadblock, but Woden and Brigit will make the final call, as always!

    Yule Blessings!

Weather Update: latest prediction looks like SNOW! Delightful when you're all warm inside and a pain to deal with when you're outside, so please allow extra driving times and slow down...we want everyone to arrive in one piece. I have a 'pop up' cover that should keep the worst off the outdoor Circle's fire pit area so the Yule Log should stay lit...providing Woden isn't too harsh!
