From SF to Oakland to Walnut Creek to San Mateo, Welcome Bay Area Women Runners, Fitness Walkers and Run Walkers

Starting September 1, 2011 all WOW Workouts will be listed on our Go WOW Team website calendar and also on our main meetup site. Please join our main meetup and peruse our calendar for a listing of all workouts and detailed descriptions of each one. If possible, please join and RSVP on the main site at www.meetup.com/GoWOWTeam. That site will post all of our workouts in the future, with descriptions and locations.

Whether you are young or old, big or little, runner or walker, as long as you are a woman who seeks on-going fitness, you are encouraged to join the WOW Team! Let's meet to work out together! Our group is social but fitness is our goal.

The WOW Team meets throughout the Bay Area, year-round. Drop-ins are encouraged and this gives you the opportunity to join at any time.

We also train for certain goals every year including:

  • Oakland Running Festival in March - 5K, Half Marathon, and Relay
  • Walk-It 5K in May - 5K Fun Walk
  • See Jane Run Half Marathon - 5K and Half Marathon in June
  • UN Peace Race - 5K Walk and Run, 10K Run in September
  • San Jose Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon in October
  • CIM Marathon and Relay in December
  • Walnut Creek Half Marathon - 10K and Half Marathon in December


WOW Women vary in ability. Some are training for a specific goal like a half marathon or a 10K Race. Some have marathons planned in the future. Others come out solely for the social time combined with the exercise. Walking for 60 minutes is a great workout as is a 60 minute run. And if you happen to be in the middle, using run/walk technique, that's great too!

You must be able to move for 60 minutes. The pace doesn't matter. The goal doesn't matter. Unfortunately if you can't move steadily for 60 minutes you will not have fun. We are definitely into this for fitness!

WOW Participants Include:
1.  Fitness runners, walkers, or run/walkers who can move for at least 60 minutes. No particular racing goals

2.  Recreational Fitness - 10-15 min/mile - sometimes compete

3.  Runners/Racers -  7 - 10 min/miles, compete often, want to be fast

Organized and coached by certified running coach Stephanie Atwood.
