What would be your ideal project or client?

My ideal project would be web based systems that solves common issues I run into each day. Even better would be to spin these off into open source projects that could be used by anyone. Even better than that would be a company that sponsored me to keep said systems updated.

What's your expertise? Flash, PHP, copywriting...

Right now, not much. I hope JavaScript frameworks and Microsoft backend systems soon. I was familiar with Perl and HTML back in the day but haven't seriously kept up with web technology in some time.

What would you like to get out of this group?

Make application of what I'm learning. Different perspective on anything related to web technology.

Do you freelance, work at home, or work for a company?

I work as an IT Desktop Support technician for a large protein company in Greeley. I worked for an Internet startup in the past (during the dot-com boom) and for other companies that used web technologies. I enjoy the technical challenges and rewards the web presents.

Are you interested in collaborating on larger projects?

Yes but am afraid I may be more of a hindrance until I can get 'my legs under me'. My background has been in help desk/desktop apps/operations role for the past 12 years while raising a family.

Introduction

My name is Russ Estes. It's been awhile since I've delved into web technologies but am getting back into it. I'm learning JavaScript and C#/ASP.NET using both online tutorials and classes.

What Russell E. is saying about this Meetup Group

It was my first FCIP meeting. I enjoyed the mix of backgrounds and experience of all those there. Can't wait for the next one I can attend.
