Jon Bonanno
President, Chairman of the Board and Co-Founder
Principle Power, Inc.
"renewable energy delivered"
Cleantech Investment Committee Chairman, Keiretsu Forum Angel Network, the world's largest angel investing organization!
Jon Bonanno co-founded Principle Power on January 2, 2008, for the purpose of applying his entrepreneurial, team-building and finance experience to making economically attractive renewable energy projects. His vision is that the portfolio of Principle Power will grow to multiple gigawatts of sustainable energy assets and make a difference in offsetting fossil fuel usage. He is currently serving at the Chairman of the Board of Directors and President of Principle Power.
In 1995, Jon Bonanno founded Interbill, a global online business-to-consumer micro-billing platform for digital consumables. Two years later, he sold his company to Global Internet Billing (GIB) out of London. This inspired him to move to London and work under the corporate umbrella focusing on footprint expansion, opening offices in Hong Kong, Sydney, Düsseldorf, New York and Los Angeles. After exiting from GIB, Mr. Bonanno founded Solid Streaming, a venture backed by JP Morgan, CIBC and Telesystems that developed a BREW audio/video streaming platform for CDMA 1x. In the wake of 9/11, Solid Streaming struggled, prompting Mr. Bonanno to move to Barcelona, Spain to start his third venture ViaMoviles. This was an online and mobile marketing company, which grew to a #103 rating on Alexa and created a bridge between Internet vendors and publishers worldwide.
In October of 2006, he sold his position in ViaMoviles to the original partnership in order to dedicate 100% of his time to Cleantech investing. In a short time, he has been an early Angel investor in Earth Class Mail, Sierra Nevada Solar and the first investor in Cool Earth Solar, at which he has served on the Board of Directors and as a Commercial Advisor.
He was recently elected by his peers to chair the Cleantech Investment Committee for the Keiretsu Forum Angel Network, the world?s largest angel investing organization. Mr. Bonanno is a member of ACORE (American Counsel on Renewable Energy) and the New Energy Congress and a sponsor of EasyConnect, a Berkeley-based mobility and transportation study group.
Mr. Bonanno is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School. He lives in San Francisco and drives a B99 biodiesel?fueled VW Jetta. You can read more about Jon at his LinkedIn page:
