Power of Making & Postmodernism - Style and Subversion

  • Oct 1, 2011 · 2:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This meetup is for two exhibitions at the V&A on the 1st of October 2011

Power of Making

The exhibition showcases works made using a diverse range of skills and explores how materials can be used in imaginative and spectacular ways, whether for medical innovation, entertainment, social networking or artistic endeavour.

Making is the most powerful way that we solve problems, express ideas and shape our world. What and how we make defines who we are, and communicates who we want to be.

Postmodernism - Style and Subversion

Of all movements in art and design history, postmodernism is perhaps the most controversial. This era defies definition, but it is a perfect subject for an exhibition. Postmodernism was an unstable mix of the theatrical and theoretical. It was visually thrilling, a multifaceted style that ranged from the colourful to the ruinous, the ludicrous to the luxurious.

Really enjoyed the maker exhibition. Revealed to me that some of the things I've just done idly qualify. The postmodern exhibition was... interesting.
