Stonebrooke Golf Club

Update: We're all set for Saturday. Weather looks good and we're full up. Here's the pairings and tee times. Please be at the course at least 20 minutes before your tee time and be sure to check in with me (I'll either be outside or inside by the pro shop door), so I can mark you as attended and refund your $20 hold fee. Enjoy, everyone!

12:30:  Scott, Jeanne, Janet S., Pat H.

12:40:  Walt, Lorrie, Chris S. +1

12:50:  Judie, Rosemary, Spencer +1

1:00:   Ned, Bob, Julie +1

1:10:    Jim, Jay, Beth, Liz

1:20:   Karyn, Henry, Diane, John J.

1:30:   Cliff, Laura, Cheryl, Barbara

1:40:   Roy, Lynda, Kevin, Carol

1:50:   Steph, Steve S., Therese, Bill Z.

Everyone seems to love Stonebrooke. So let's tee up on Saturday June 21 and see who can make their tee shot over the water on the 8th hole before the pontoon takes us to the ladies tees and fairway for the guys (or the drop area, if you didn't make it).

There's room for 36 golfers @ $44 for the round including cart. Afterward, let's congregate for congratulations or  commiseration, fun and great food on the Stonebooke patio or inside if Mother Nature isn't playing nice.

On the business side of this event, a $20 fee is required to sign up and hold your spot. This fee is to eliminate no shows. It will be refunded when you show up for your round. See me when you arrive to check in and get your refund. Then pay the $44 round fee in the pro shop.

Steph and Therese, Thanks for your time in putting the event together. Course conditions weren't perfect but the weather was, we all got to meet some nice new people, and have a few laughs and enjoy a perfect evening on the patio. The place is still beautiful, even with soggy spots. While you can't please everyone you did an awesome job pleasing most everyone. We all knew before paying greens fees that it was cart path only. I guess some folks don't get what that means until it's to late. With everything you both did so well to make the event a good one, it's to bad you can't prevent rain, course flooding and the like. If any body has the higher powers to make everything perfect I'd like to suggest they step up to organize future events. Until then we have to settle for great events, not perfect ones. Sorta like life I guess. Keep up the fine effort, most of us really appreciate you both!!!

Cliff, thanks for the great comments and compliments to Steph and Therese for putting this event together.

    • Steph

Yes, Cliff thanks. Very nice of you to say. Add to the list of higher powers...the ability to predict that 169N heading home would be such a nightmare! I avoided much of it, but know some were stuck in traffic for a couple hours. The things we do for love of the game!

Great weather and nice group to golf with!

If I knew I had to walk most of the course, I would never have played. You get a cart to save wear and tear on your body. NOT to walk from the path to your ball , back to the path, back to your ball and so on, and so on.

    June 22

    • Bob

But I'm 64 years old and my body can't walk that far anymore.

Thanks everyone for coming out yesterday. Course was pretty soggy, but hope everyone had a great time.

    Steph
Thanks again for making this possible. It was a great day and the only thing that would have made it better would have been drier fairways.

Henry and everyone, RSVP closes today at noon and I'll be posting groupings tonight.

  • Henry W.

First off, thank you for organizing such a large group event. With that, can you advise the groupings or first come first serve on tee time?

    June 18

  • Jim H.

Steph, thank you for organizing. Could you put jay and I together. Middle grouping would be ok. Thank you. The weather looks great too.

    June 17

Can't speak for Bob, but I think he may be looking at tomorrow's weather predicting thunderstorms throughout the day. The event is the following Saturday, June 21, and while several weather websites say it will be clear, it's still too far out to predict. If there is rain on the day of the event, the course expects us to show up to Stonebrooke and make the call whether we'll play on site. As the course's GM said, it can be raining in Minneapolis but clear in Shakopee. Stonebrooke has extended us a big block of their tee times that day in good faith so failure to show up if weather looks iffy could diminish that good will and leave the organizer (me) on the hook for your round. If it's a wash-out for the entire day, you'll be refunded your $20 deposit and we'll reschedule the event. If you only get in some of the holes, you'll receive a rain check for the remaining holes you haven't played. Hope this answers your questions.

Am I missing something? The date is listed as the 21st - 8 days away. how do we know it's most likely to be rained out so far ahead?

    June 13

  • Cliff H.

Weather reports 8 days out are subject to drastic change.

Personally if the organizers kept the money for all their time, energy, effort and putting up with some of us I'd be ok with that. Or maybe they'd use the funds to buy the first round at the next event. :)

Organizers, Thanks for your work pulling together these golf outings. I know getting each one launched is an effort and you try hard to keep everyone happy. You sweat the details and we click a couple buttons on our computer, show up and have a great time. It can be a thankless volunteer endeavor. You do it for fun and the love of the game.

    Thank you very much!!!

According to all the weather reports, it's most likely gong to get rained out. What happens to our deposits?

    June 13

  • Bob

What do you mean it was full? I did my RSVP when there was still 12 spots left. That's not right.
The weather does not look good anyway.

    June 12

    • Steph

Bob, your RSVP doesn't go through until you're hold fee is received. I received your check on Tuesday of this week and the 32 spots had already been filked. So I added another foursome to accommodate you and three others. Bottom line, you are signed up.

      June 12

  • Walt G.

Just want to say that you are such a wonderful golf buddy. So accommodating and empathic. It is really nice to know someone like you. Thanks for setting things up,

Thanks Walt! Now, let's just hope we get a lovely sunny day.

    Steph,

  • Steph

Good news, I was able to add another foursome. Leeann, I see you switched your RSVP to "no" to make room for Bob. I'll count you as coming since you already paid your $20 hold fee (unless you want to stay a no and I'll refund). Bob, you're in too. Chris and Cliff, please RSVP ASAP (and make your $20 downpayment when you RSVP). That will fill up the extra tee time.

    June 12

  • Chris S.

Is there a chance that Lee and Chris Simonson could get in also?

    June 12

  • Bob

Where can I send my $20.00 to? I have no way of doing it online.

    June 4

    • Steph

Bob, I received your check yesterday, but unfortunately the event was already full. I'm checking with Stonebrooke to see if we can add another foursome. If so, you'll be signed up, Bob, and there will be room for 3 more.

      June 11

    • Lee A.

If not, Bob can take my spot
