"Something New Must Emerge"

This meetup

We are asking for a "University size" emergence

There is no mistyping here. the tasks is so large that to understand it sufficiently wee need the time and space that is available normally for a major course in a University.

Emergence is one of the characteristics of complex systems.

The developments of species in evolution are an example of emergence.

One of the questions arising from Something New Must Emerge is, How new does the new have to be?

In the context of evolution something new can be as different from what went before as a frog is different from a tadpole.

But let us be a bit more modest, and prepare to enable a new state of society to emerge during the next ten to twenty years.

--------------

Thoughts to stimulate discussion:

  • Evolution as divine discontent;
  • Changing gear with humanity;
  • Evolution becomes social;
  • Society as family;
  • A dysfunctional family gets a kick from behind---change or become extinct.

Past meetups

"Something New Must Emerge", in the words of World Friend Adi Da, is the theme of B M Hubbard's book, Birth 2012 and Beyond---Humanity's Great Shift to the Age of Conscious Evolution. It is an invitation to participate in the symbolic birth of our new planet. March[masked] a conception date and consequently the due birth date of 22 st December of that "something new".

"The years behind us have prepared us for systemic change, with economic meltdowns, political gridlock, environmental destruction, unrest and fear. The breakdown of the old systems have become painfully evident; Time magazine chose the "protestor" as the Person of the Year from 2011 to reflect the global uprising of discontent aimed at moneyd elites, oppressive dictators, unaccountable corporations, and aloof politicians."

Connecting the highest source to its material pole of earthly manifestation with a vision: Something New Must Emerge.

How come so many of us claim to be loving yet millions suffer and die unnecessarily? in other words why can not love feed everyone in the world?

Prior Unity and Sharing the Gifts of Nature

A change of theme.

We share a common origin in creation and the gift of life in a generously endowed world on our planet.

This meetup is an opportunity for informal networking and continued co-learning in the discovery of what it means to:

1) serve the common good;

2) ensure equitable use of what belongs to us all;

We are spiritual beings with a mission in the physical universe.

We also share a need in common for resources required to sustain our physical body in order to carry out that mission.

Hence the need for wisdom in finding ways to distribute across the globe the plentiful resources nature provides for our well being.

This wisdom can be called spiritual economics.

Who is Adi Da?

In the course of the Kosovo war in 1999, Adi Da, a world-friend, wrote a letter to the human family about the urgent issues facing humankind.

The burden of the letter was that humanity has forgotten the truth that it was a single family. The result of this forgetfulness was manifesting in a destructive tribalism of which the Kosovo war was only one manifestation --- a world divided against itself.

That open letter to humankind grew into a substantial proposal Adi Da had worked on until his death in 2008. His followers and many friends are charged with the task of spreading the awareness of the necessity and means to establish a Global Cooperative Forum where humankind, as a whole, will be represented by each one of us. "Together, all at once," we will "loose face" and recognize our fundamental, pre-existing condition of being part of one evolving species with a special duty towards the earth.

Extract for this meetup: In a true cooperative human community... [r]ight responsibility... must always be assumed and demanded... When it is not, that failure... will, inevitably,... enable (or even oblige) shrewder men and women to exploit and oppress the members of the community, and make them slaves to their own egoity again.

What needs to change on the way towards a good society?

Something is badly wrong with the way money is created. This lecture,  Financial Crisis and Economic Recession , by Professor Jesus Huerta de Soto promises to address this major headache of the government. It may also reveal how to eliminate the need for draconian spending cuts and the consequent hardships visited on the people.

Asking profound questions is a way to generate a breakthrough, creative insights, and unforeseen possibilities. To create sustainable solutions, a holistic approach and a diverse set of perspectives are required.

• What is money?
• Why do we have ever-growing private and public debt?
• Who is collecting all the public and private debts and assets?
• What gives money its value?
• Is sustainability possible with faulty economics
• Why do we need literacy when it comes to economics and its function in society?
• What possibilities could exist when we think "outside the box"?

If these questions sound boring, think again. Significant choices can be closed up when certain basic economic freedoms are denied to individuals.

It is up to active, socially-conscious citizens to transform the system---not governments, corporations and global institutions. When we become socially aware and engaged in making choices for the generations to come, our government and institutions are bound to change. Conversations can have a transforming effect on individuals and, consequently, on social arrangements in societies claiming to be democracies.

All social arrangements and institutions exist and persist because people accept them and give them legitimacy through that acceptance. This is a systems view. To change things for the better, first conceive of an improved alternative; then find the means of getting from the "design" to its realization as an improved social reality. This process is facilitated by many seminal works of authors who may have spent decades in thinking through and proposing evolutionary changes in the the way we live together and maintain society. We do not have to "invent the wheel". Rather we have to guard against over valuing originality and newness of ideas. See, for example and among many others, People's Capitalism; The Capitalist Manifesto; Beyond The Wage-Based Society; America Beyond Capitalism; Capitalism 3.0; etc., etc.

Let's philosophize.

What is life?
What is a good life?
Who am I?
Where did I come from?
Why am I here?
Where am I going?

Topical. Economic literacy must not be left to the experts. They can be wrong and, on occasions, intentionally misleading. Fore example: Vince Cable bought his second home 23 years ago. Should he pay capital gains tax when he sells?

Conclusion: Yes, because the capital appreciation represents a substantial (and most likely unearned) increase in the value of the property. If improvements have taken place (new roof, second bathroom, etc.) value increase due to these would be deducted from the taxable capital increase.

Practical topics like the above are directly relevant to issues relating to a good society and how public revenue is raised with minimum interference (income tax being one most intrusive way) in citizens' private affairs.

* The science of organizational design is the science of social evolution

* A science of "good society" exists within the holistic methodologies of Systems Sciences.

* Change happens, but it may not lead to an improved state of being. Thinking about the changes that need to happen in our social environment is the first step towards conscious evolution.

Thinking together unlocks possibilities for change that may not arise in separate minds.

We are spiritual beings with a mission in the physical universe

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
