I want to meet more people who are designing products that impart positive social change. I am especially interested in the intersection of engineering and design and the application of new technology to solve some of the pressing environmental and social issues we face today.
I have recently spearheaded a project to build a rooftop greenhouse at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The facility is an integrated food and energy system that uses solar panels to shade the plants and functions on a closed-loop aquaponic growing system that uses fish waste to fertilize the fruits and vegetables. It's simplicity and it's efficiency will facilitate its application not only in markets like New York City but also in food-security initiatives in the developing world.
My name is Zach Gould I am a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate low living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Over the past year and a half I have been involved with start up companies working in renewable energy and urban agriculture.
