This will a basic to intermediate level presentation about Wordpress, Drupal and Joomla. We'll talk about how these tools can be useful both for new organizations that don't have a website yet, as well as how they might be helpful for making microsites or independent blogs for specific purposes, like fundraisign campaigns or particular topical issues. Of course, this is high-level stuff, and we're not going to get too far into the technical aspects of the development, just enough to make some decisions about what platform might be best for your use, and what sort of benefits or problems might come up with each one.
As usual we'll start congregating around 6pm, with speakers kicking off at 6:30. This will be more of a "camp" style, and people will be talk about their own experiences with the platforms and share advice and tips.
Please RSVP and spread the word to those you might think would be interested.
The Goodnik meetup is a group of social entrepreneurs and nonprofit innovators who meet regularly to explore the use of new technology and other resources in the promotion of social causes. Our events include workshops, seminars, and conferences on topics such as the use of social media, web development tools, graphic design, fundraising tools, and emerging technology that helps solve real-world problems. And of course, sometimes we get together just for fun or to connect with other like-minded people who are interested in starting their own social enterprise or working with others in the field. The Goodnik meetup is only one aspect of Goodnik's activities, so make sure to check in at Goodnik.org for more information and find other resources that support social entrepreneurs and social responsibility.
