Exciting News: Our workshop, due to our socio-economic mission, may be filmed by a major news outlet. Ruby Nuby teaches Ruby On Rails programming and entrepreneurial skills to at-risk youths who are sponsored by the professionals that we teach. By learning together, they create socio-economic bridges and through our startup competitions incubate businesses together.
More Detailed Information:
Starting at 10am, a different Social Media Strategist will present every two hours. Each 2-hour block will cover:
Ruby Nuby knows a thing or two about Social Media. Our 2-minute video describing our socio-economic mission, competing for a grant from British Airways, is ranked #7 in the world with 31,000 votes. We were #1 for most of the first round of voting and had 5x's the number of votes of the next nearest competitor. Why did we slip to #7? We held off for the 2nd round of voting where voting completely refreshes for the top 10 to compete in the final round, which is Dec 10th-17th. We want to implement our special social media strategies when it counts and that is the inspiration of this workshop.
In keeping with our philosophy of passing on what we learn to others, we are inviting non-profits, other social do-gooders and anyone who wants to learn about Social Media to join us in learning together in a collaborative, cooperative fashion and doing some social good at the same time.
We will be filming the classes and hope to stream them live so people worldwide can participate.
At a follow-up class in January, we will share the results of our Social Media campaign, discuss in detail analytics, in general and specifically to our campaign to learn how better to implement a Social Media campaign.
Volunteering: We need volunteers in many areas: coffee/food runs, check-in, video help for livestream/ustream, event coordination, media relations, basically all hands on deck...tell us your skill sets and we can probably use them.
Since are only charging $10, we ask volunteers to contribute financially as well(those that can not afford it can apply for scholarship, we will try not to turn anyone away who will contribute in other ways to do social good)
Please let your friends, the non-profits/social do-gooders in your circle know about this workshop. We are going to try to highlight which non-profits we can work with synergistically in the interview. Ruby Nuby provides tech support for other non-profits. Our Nubies learn by integrating their tech skills to do social good.
We reserve the right for any 2-hour block where we don't get a separate instructor, that we will brainstorm and bootstrap ourselves. At Ruby Nuby, we believe bootstrapping oneself, with the collaborative and cooperative support of others.
