Snazzy CSS Effects with Sass & Using @extend to Build/Design Styleguides

Underneath it all Sass is still CSS. We gotta love the language that brings beauty to the web. Let's bid a celebratory adieu to 2012 with one more NYC Sass Meetup.

Du Hoang is going to teach you how to create arrows, talk bubbles, ribbons, and other effects in CSS, and animate them. Then use Sass to build a library of your favorite CSS effects. Huzzah!

Jeff Escalante returns to podium to show us about the power of @extend and how to use it to create elegant styleguides that keep your files DRY. Extend is a killer Sass feature. If you don't know it, your in for a great holiday gift.

And if you have any code, pet projects, questions, suggestions, we'll be opening up the floor for 15 minutes at the end for anyone to speak or share their sassy thoughts.

Speakers

Du Hoang is the Interactive Art Director at CalorieCount.com. He specializes in both design and frontend dev, and thinks that magic happens when code and design collide. You can follow him on Twitter @duhoang.

Jeff Escalante is a hybrid developer who slings code at Carrot Creative in Brooklyn. He has a extensive background in both design and programming, which makes him really excited about the intersection between the two - front-end development. He would love to talk with you about css, coffeescript, fluffy animals, and/or ruby. Outside of work Jeff has been widely recognized for his expertise in trolling

Great talks by Du Hoang and Jeff Escalante—thanks for taking the time to present! Stoked that Jeff Scott Ward took the stage to share his projects and cool things he'd found during Show & Tell.
