On one of our last weekend sails we had a large Humpback Whale come and get "up close and personal" with our boat. While I can't promise a repeat performance, the weather promises to be warm and sunny.
On Sunday, we will most likely expore the Cityfront, or do an "Island Tour" type of a sail - around Alcatraz and Angel Island through Raccoon Strait and back again. We will stop for lunch at Ayala Cove or McCovey Cove depending.
After our orientation talk, we will decide on our destination based on time and tide, and the experience level and goals of the group as a whole.

I expect that we will be out for four or five hours.

We will experience many different wind and sea conditions and try all the points of sail. You may participate in the sailing of the boat as much, or as little, as you desire.
Please bring a sweater and a jacket for when it cools off. Bring foul weather gear and a PFD if you have them (I have some extras), and wear non-marking soled shoes.
I have ginger ale and bottled water on board. Please bring a snack to share and whatever beverage you prefer.

Willin' is a big, modern, safe, well-equipped, well-maintained yacht with full electronics and instrumentation. We will not be pushing her to her limits and we will enjoy a safe, comfortable sail. I will control the RSVP and waiting lists to ensure that we have a good mix of newbies and experienced sailors.
There will be a one-hour orientation to get you familiar with the boat and safety procedures prior to our departure.
Your forty-dollar donation will help to defray costs. If you have any questions about this, or anything else, please give me a call, or email me.
We have had some incredible outings in the past, so please check out some of the previous "Newbie" Meet ups:

OK, let's go sailing and have some fun.
What a fabulous day! Mark is a great skipper, fun and a bit mischievous. We had a great crew and perfect weather. We sailed under the new bay bridge. We anchored at Treasure Island (the right one) for lunch. Afterwards, we sailed the slot and got up to 7.2 knots.
Mark even indulged me and put some sea shanties on the stereo! Thank you all. Steve, great pictures!

Thanks everyone for being patient with me. My first
sailing trip in a while and my first ever in SF Bay.
Also the music was an unexpected pleasant surprise.
With the exception of my confusion with all the nautical
terminology, a five star experience!

Awesome day. Did a little of everything - including a trip to "The Other Treasure Island"

It sounds like you guys had a blast and you could not have asked for better weather "did you see a humpback whale this time also"?

Hey guys - I'm going skiing tomorrow, but with this weather I can't believe I'll be missing such a great day on the bay. Have fun tomorrow and see you at the next event!
