Willin' is being Hauled and Set at Svendsen's Boat Works

  • Jul 13, 2013 · 8:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

We have had some incredible outings on Willin' over the last couple of years - over 100 Meetups!

Well, the old girl is is need of some minor repairs and maintenance.  So, I am posting this as a place holder as I might be looking for some help doing some of the maintenance work.

We will sand her bottom and apply new bottom paint.  We will drop her rudder, inspecting the rudder, rudder post, rudder post tube and steering quadrant.

We will inspect the keel, prop, prop shaft, strut, cutlass bearing and zinc anodes.

For all of you have enjoyed sailing on the old girl, I may have opportunities for you to come out and help care for her bottom.  Although, more likely, I might let Sven's crew do the majority of the work.  In which case, you might want to just come and see what the other half of a Catalina 30 looks like (4,000 lbs. of lead keel).

In the very least this event page will give me a place to post the pictures of the work as it progresses and I think that this could be very educational for a lot of you.

Willin' and I thank you all for your support!

Hey Mark, I might be able to help out if you need it. I spent my college summers working for yacht services in Annapolis. I've sanded and painted more bottoms than I could count. I might even have a full-face respirator somewhere.
