On Saturday afternoon we will meet down at the boat and prepare to sail in the South Beach Yacht club Lighted Boat Parade. We have a giant inflatable Sock Monkey and lot of light strings.

The rain should have cleared by then, but I will "keep an eye on the glass" and keep you informed.
Bring warm clothes and dress in layers. Hat and gloves recomended. Bring a PFD if you have one (I have some extras), and wear non-marking soled shoes.

We will meet at five and after our orientation talk, we set sail.

This year the parade is called "Le Quatre Basin Bateau Barragement". We will visit China Basin, McCovey Cove, the basin between Pier 38 and Piers 30-32, and The Fire Boat Basin. The low tide looks favorable for a trip to Fishermans' Wharf and a quick return on the incoming tide. We will assemble with the other boats in Mc Covey Cove at 1830 hours and return to the yacht club by 2030 hours.
Back at the Club after the parade we will enjoy a chicken or vegetable pot pie with a fresh salad, and a cobbler dessert (all for 12 bucks!).
I have ginger ale and bottled water on board. Please bring a snack to share and whatever beverage you prefer.

Our theme will be "A Sock Monkey Christmas" - so bring your "Sock Monkey" hat.

Willin' is a big, modern, safe, well-equipped, well-maintained yacht with full electronics and instrumentation. We will not be pushing her to her limits and we will enjoy a safe, comfortable sail. I will control the RSVP and waiting lists to ensure that we have a good mix of newbies and experienced sailors.

There will be a short orientation to get you familiar with the boat and safety procedures prior to our departure.
We have had some incredible outings in the past, so please check out some of the previous "Newbie" Meet ups:

Your forty-dollar donation will help defer costs. If you have a question about this or anything else give me a call, or email me, to discuss.
OK, let's go sailing and have some fun.
As always, it was a delightful group. Sitting by that fireplace with a hot chicken pot pie, and a tall dark and stormy, was a great finish to the evening.

Great skipper and crew! The rain stopped and a beautiful night opened up for us. It was especially delightful to engage with all the excited folks (from young to old) on shore as they waved and cheered us on. Thanks to Mark and his boat "Willin'" for making this night possible! I'll post photos soon...

The forecast for rain decreases as the day goes on. 60, 50, 40 and by seven is only 30 percent chance of rain.
