Introduction

I learned to sail on the Chesapeake Bay growing up in Maryland, I had a Bristol '27. Looking forward to the San Fran Bay experience to and to making new friends.

How would you describe your sailing experience? At the end of your description include a title for yourself (look at other profiles, or the about page for ideas)

10+ years of cruising expereience with some racing mixed in.

What type boats have you sailed on - or dream of sailing on? What sort of sailing do you do? Cruising, racing, beercans, YRA . . . Transpac??

I've mainly sailed on my Bristol '27 and my Dad's Pearson '30

If you are a private boat owner -- please describe your vessel in as much detail as you can.

No I don't not own a boat now

Do you have any US sailing or ASA certificates? Do you bareboat charter?

I do not hold any certificates.

Are you disabled or have limited mobility? You'll be welcomed, but it's very important for skippers to know ahead of time to keep everyone safe while sailing (you included).

No I am not disabled.

  • Hey James,

Interested in building a mobile app as part of a SBHX hackathon/competition? So far the 3 of us who are down (myself and the only 2 people I've talked to about it) have never made a mobile app, so don't worry about being inexperienced of you are -- we are, too!

The idea is to build a mobile app with either native tools (Android SDK, etc), Titanium Mobile, SL4A, PhoneGap, jQuery Mobile + HTML5, or the like. Our app ideas are fairly simple, which is fine.

    Anyway, let me know!

  • Hey James, great meeting you Friday. :-)

How sick is Titanium, right?! next steps for me: build a couple apps then, teach what I know to the rest of SB Hackerspace, hopefully as part of an Appcelerator-sponsored "class" or seminar. I'll let you know if anything comes of it.

If you want to keep tabs on the hackerspace, I recommend joining our Google Group: http://gg.sbhackerspace.com.
We're chatting in IRC all the time if you ever want to say hi: http://irc.sbhackerspace.com

    Later!

  • So far it's been an awesome Spring for windsurfing, sailing at least once a week sometimes 2. No excuses about not having a wetsuit like this past winter, it was warm yesterday (Thursday) and we were in shortys. Should be a windy today and at least 3 days next week. Give this group a jump start and start scheduling some events.
