Final stats: 21 miles and 3500 ft in 8 hours. We hiked one extra mile because of the dipsea bridge outrage.

Kudo to everybody in this group: 20 miles in 8 hours with 3500 ft gain. What an accomplishment. What a great fun group of people to hike with. (Hailong did 30+ miles).

Cool, let me know if anything else needs to be changed. P.S., you can go to Alpine Lake from Pantoll while we are taking Rt A. Hopefully you will catch up with us at Pantoll again on our way back :P

  • hailong t.

cumulative elevation gain is about 3500 ft

Hailong Ge, we don't think we are going to Alpine Lake this time. Stinson -> Pantoll -> Alpine Lake -> East Peak -> Muir Woods -> Pantoll -> Stinson is going to be a 30+ mile day hike with very significant elevation changes, which is beyond the capacity of most people in this group.

Another option is uphill by Steep Ravin & Dipsea and downhill by Matt Davis. Uphill by Steep Ravin is really challenging but more fun... I don't want to get anybody exausted before reaching the East Peak, since East Peak is only HALF WAY. However, if everybody is confident and constantly seeking challenges, let's take Steep Ravine uphill!

Detailed route updated. Thanks Hailong Ge for suggestions. Basically, the route is going to be an "8" shaped double loops, connected by Pantoll Ranger Station. We will first go uphill to Pantoll by Matt Davis and at the end downhill from Pantoll by Steep Ravine & Dipsea.

From Stinson Beach, I would like to hike to Alpine Lake first, then go to east peak

Andy will co-host this even and setup the trails so that we may meet with Jenny and Leo's group at sunset.

We'll definitely start earlier but we can meet @ Stinson Beach parking lot and have dinner with her group after the hike.
