I'm still really new to Java, I took the intro class at GRCC and am now taking the Visual Basic Class. Would I be way over my head here?

You will get out of this what you put into it. We are creating an environment for people to learn, by providing people an opportunity to work on something interesting and people to talk to as oppose to reading and learning from a book. Think of it as a social learning experiment where all you can do is gain from the experience.

Justin... I would encourage you to attend these sessions. These folks are very supportive and helpful. I am really glad I invested a couple hours to this meetup. Jump in and absorb whatever you can... it all builds on itself.

Originally, tonights meeting was going to be focused on persistence in Android - but unfortunately, the lead for that effort is not able to make it.
Instead, tonight's meeting is going to be all about hacking. Work individually, work as a team, we will be working through the extensive feature list, learning as we go.
Looking forward to a great and fun night.

I'm a little afraid to start in the middle of this. Is there any value of showing up if you didn't attend the previous Chuck Norris hacking meetups?

Yes. The idea is that people can join at any time and start contributing as well as learning.

Sadly, I won't be able to make it in July. Scheduling conflicts. Oh well.
