Ever got asked "What's the best French restaurant in DC" ? An absolute answer may be tough due to varied opinions, debatable personal choices ending with no consensus, but if one would simply say La Chaumerie is among the best bistros for savoring traditional French cuisine, most DC diners would acknowledge that with a thoughtful nod of approval.
Our series of "Top Chefs in DC" takes us to a Georgetown dining gem, which is pronounced as "la show me air" and has won the "100 Best restaurants" award 29 times since 1978!
Chef de Cuisine Patrick Orange style of cooking can be summed up as simple yet delightfully delicious, aesthetically well composed with seasonal ingredients and traditional without the frills or fusion, offering diners an experience that can only be matched at a French country inn. Some may further add that Chef Patrick Orange is the closest you could find that still uses the old school French cooking methods of Auguste Escoffier.
Moderately priced entrees and carefully chosen wine list, makes this place a great dining and wine pairing experience for our members. The unpretentious atmosphere enhanced by the central stone fireplace, wood beams and stucco walls offer a rustic and warm atmosphere to unwind from the hustle & bustle of a busy city life.
