"Top Chefs in DC" - A French tradition in Georgetown

Ever got asked "What's the best French restaurant in DC" ? An absolute answer may be tough due to varied opinions, debatable personal choices ending with no consensus, but if one would simply say La Chaumerie is among the best bistros for savoring traditional French cuisine, most DC diners would acknowledge that with a thoughtful nod of approval.

Our series of "Top Chefs in DC" takes us to a Georgetown dining gem, which is pronounced as "la show me air" and has won the "100 Best restaurants" award 29 times since 1978!

Chef de Cuisine Patrick Orange style of cooking can be summed up as simple yet delightfully delicious, aesthetically well composed with seasonal ingredients and traditional without the frills or fusion, offering diners an experience that can only be matched at a French country inn. Some may further add that Chef Patrick Orange is the closest you could find that still uses the old school French cooking methods of Auguste Escoffier.

Moderately priced entrees and carefully chosen wine list, makes this place a great dining and wine pairing experience for our members. The unpretentious atmosphere enhanced by the central stone fireplace, wood beams and stucco walls offer a rustic and warm atmosphere to unwind from the hustle & bustle of a busy city life.

Reservations are tough to make at this bistro, so we ask that you responsibly manage your RSVP as no shows or last minute cancellations would make it difficult to manage future reservations and also deny other members a chance to attend this event.

Duck marinated in black currant sauce was delicious and ambience was great and warm as a countryside inn. Fun group of members to share the evening with !!

Businesses casual works...jeans ok, sandels are not. They won't not let you in but you'll just look out of place in a conservative French restaurant in Georgetown if you dress sloppy.

Another friendly reminder to please update your RSVP's if your plans of attending have changed.
Last minute cancellations would be unfair on those that are on the wait list. Looking forward to seeing you all !

My deepest apologies. I have an emergency that will require me being out of the area, so my guest and I will not be able to attend.

Since we have a few members on the waiting list, I will try to see, if we can extend the spots to accommodate a group of 8 people. Would like to request those that have RSVP'd to manage their RSVP's responsibly as planning a reservation at this restaurant is a bit difficult that most other places.
