"Fête des Vendanges" - Celebrating Wine harvest at Le Diplomate

Autumn is here, and among many other things to look forward to, For Wine lovers, the Grape Harvest season is a special time to celebrate the beverage that we all love.

"Fête des Vendanges" as its called in France, is a special celebration of wine-making and its important harvest season, with this annual autumn festival.

Our choice of venue for this special celebration, is DC's newest French bistro that has been receiving rave reviews and for a vibe that is reminiscent of dining at a Bistro in Paris.

The restaurant which opened its doors in DC this year is owned by Philadelphia restaurant mogul Stephen Starr and run by Chef Adam Schop, whose resume includes the pan-Latin Nuela in New York and the admired Zinc Bistro in Scottsdale, who beat out more than a dozen serious candidates for the job – including three French chefs.

So let's get together to raise a toast to this special time of the year, and get to savor an extensive menu that features a variety of classic favorites including Onion Soup Gratinée, Steak Frites and Escargots as well as daily plats such as Bouillabaisse and Entrecôte de Boeuf. The crusty baguettes are made in-house and are the ideal accompaniment to a selection of regional French cheeses.

Reservations are very difficult to make at this restaurant, so Please manage your RSVP's responsibly as late cancellations or no shows deny others on the wait list of a spot to attend and importantly reduces our future ability to make such reservations.

This place has a vibrant vibe, with the sound of a thousand floating conversations in the background. The food was delicious and the service excellent ! Enjoyed as always the great company of our eclectic group and interesting conversations. A bit disappointed that some could not make it as it was a busy night with parking hard to find ..

Did my absolute best to find parking with no success. After 20 minutes of driving around and seeing half a dozen DC parking enforcement officers ticketing cars parked in resident only spots I called it quits. Hope everyone else had better luck!

I shared your pain Peter....I drove around for at least the same amount of time and gave up too. Sorry to have missed the dinner but it just wasn't worth it....as far as I know, I could still have been driving around!!!

Those that have RSVP'd as an YES to "Fête des Vendanges", Please take a moment to check your schedules and update your RSVP's if your plans of attending have changed. Given the number of people on the wait list, any late cancellations or no shows will be very unfair on those that would like to attend.

    Hi Rodolfo,

This sounds like a wonderful event. What is the cost?

    September 23, 2013

    • Rodolfo

As always with our events, the only cost is what you order at the restaurant. Each one pays their own bill. Our objective is to allow our members to try out new cuisines / restaurants while also sharing the evening with other passionate foodies / socialites ..

However, as we limit our events to smaller groups, we ask our members to manage their RSVP's responsibly. So if your plans had to change after you RSVP, Please update your status accordingly so others on the wait list can attend.
