A pairing of a different kind ..

Okay its time to try something a little different, don't you think ?

From the martini to the gimlet to the Singapore Sling, Gin has been a major player in the history of the cocktail. So far this beverage remains a second-class citizen in most bars and it's yet, to have created a decisive impression on the palette of many. One place where the liquor takes center stage is the Gin Joint, a small bar underneath New Heights Restaurant in Northwest Washington.

So if you are already a Gin lover or someone like many of us who are yet to have a decisive opinion on it, this is  the event,  to join us for a "Pairing of a different kind".

The Gin joint has more than 65 brands of gin and the restaurant Chef attempts to pair them with some exquisitely prepared food dishes. So lets, try this place out, with the hope that, some of us may at the end of the evening, have a decisive opinion of this beverage known for its aromatic botanicals — often as varied and complex as those in wine.

Our Dinner reservation is for New Heights restaurant, and as always, you pay for what you order. However we ask that you manage your RSVPs responsibly as no shows and late cancellations deny others of a spot !

This event shall be hosted by Brandy, who earlier in the year, hosted a great Mediterranean Dinner and Jazz event at Tel’Veh a quaint neighborhood Wine bar in DC.

    Yes, such a congenial group. Thanks all for the fall foodie ideas and shared tastes! The Cold River gin from Maine was good

    Another great night with a fun group of people. The restaurant has an extensive Gin list. Enjoyed the Bacon wrapped Pork tenderloin paired with Smalls Gin from Oregon. (spicy finish, with touch of cardamom, orange & raspberries)

    looks like there's another gin event, but I'll hang with you and hope to arrive in time for cocktails with Rodolfo ;)

    ...Wednesday is first taste of Vir Gin at Vinoteca. Distiller Rick Wasmund will be at the 11th Street NW wine bar between 6 and 8 p.m., pouring free samples and chatting about the gin. Mixologist Horus Alvarez has come up with four cocktails to play off the gin's full body and bold anise and juniper notes, including variations on the Rickey and Hanky Panky, which will sell for $7 all night.

    Planning to try out the monthly "Gin flights" at the Gin Joint i.e. the bar downstairs the restaurant. If anyone else is interested in trying out the varied collection of Gins and Gin cocktails at the bar before the dinner, will see you there around 6:30pm. Our dinner reservation is for 7pm .. Looking forward to the dinner and Gin pairings ...

    A few more days to go for this event and am looking forward to trying and learning more about the different Gins here, and getting to meet some of the new members and see familiar faces again. If your plans of attending has changed, remember to update your RSVP at the earliest as late cancellations deny others of a spot and makes it difficult to plan future reservations.

    Please remember to update your RSVP if your plans of attending has changed, so someone on the wait list could get a spot. Last minute cancellations are harsh on those that wait and difficult for organizers to plan effectively. Looking forward to a great evening of trying something new and from the menu that Brandy has posted, among other choices the Bacon wrapped Pork tenderloin has certainly caught my attention : }

    I've been drooling over the menu and finding it hard to decide. I think the chickpeas are a definite so far.
