Visualize Graph Data - Unconference

[IMPORTANT: Please update your meetup profile to include your Full Name. I will compile the visitors list from this page. You will not be able to enter the building if you are not on the visitor's list.]

The project is to get up and running with something like D3, processingJS, Gephi and Neo4J.

This will be in "Unconference" format, meaning volunteers can present what they know to help us go through a introductory tutorial starting with setting up the environments and then running a sample.

Volunteers will be rewarded with a copy of "Graph Databases" by Emil, Jim and Ian (http://www.graphdatabases.com/).

So far we have 3 confirmed volunteers: Macy, Ben (Python) and Melih (nodejs).

Pizza will be provided.

Approx Schedule and Format:

6:00 Networking and Pizza

6:30 Show and Tell (no more than 15 mins each)

7:30 Break into Groups

7:30+ Work on project + networking

Was great to see such variety from the Boston graph/neo4j community! Thanks to all the presenters. Hope people got useful stuff out of it.

Aaron, yes a talk on Gephi would be great! The more variety the better.

I haven't worked with any of the other technologies, but I have done quite a bit of work in Gephi. I could step up if you're still searching for a Gephi volunteer.

I apologize for the reschedule. Unfortunately we are at mercy of hosts and sponsors that graciously provide their facilities and resources for *FREE*, so we have to adjust. We are set this time.

Please hold the meetup or cancel it. This is getting old. May 29, then June 1, then July 11 and now July 18. I'm eager to work with others, but it seems like this will never occur.

For logistical reasons I had to reschedule this meetup, I apologize. I'm putting a tentative date of Jul 11th. The good news is that it will most probably be at a later time in the day.

I am actually doing a talk on analysis of attributes in social graph data. This looks to be very helpful. thanks for posting the Coursera information.

That's kind of late in the evening, but it sounds quite interesting. We are using D3.js for visualizing biological networks using the BEL language (http://openbel.org). Would love to share and see how other people are using D3.js for network visualization.

Pablo just offered to share some code and data. On my side, we can help out people with general setup and sdk setup (nodejs, Python) on Mac/Win/Ubuntu.

I'm thinking we could do an "unconference" format, where anybody can share/present what s/he has.

I'm very novice with the visualizations but could do a little presentation. Are there others here who could help with the tutorial? Thanks :)

Yes is of course contingent on date but am looking forward to meeting other users.

Would people be interested in a "hands-on" format? I want to play with this myself ;)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
