Graphs in the Bay Area

Hey all!

Based on the great meetup we had at Mozilla, we wanted to throw another one in July. We also wanted to see if there is anyone who would like to showcase their project that is based on a graph database.

GraphConnect and QCon SF are sponsoring this event, so look out for some free t-shirts and stickers

We have a couple great people lined up for this meetup:

Mathieu Bastian, Co-founder of Gephi, Data Scientist at LinkedIN Mathieu is the co-founder and software architect of the Gephi open-source project - "The Photoshop for Graphs". Since 2007, Mathieu is developing the software and animates this vibrant community. He is currently a Data Scientist at LinkedIn where he focuses on building data-driven products like LinkedIn InMaps or LinkedIn Skills. He is interested in network analysis and visualization, distributed systems and more generally how to solve problems with data. Corey Farwell, RIAARadar Corey is an undergraduate student who is living in the Bay Area over the summer, and has a personal project (RIAARadar) that is based on the graph database Neo4j. The app is used to determine whether an album was released by an RIAA affiliated label or not. Look forward to seeing all of you this week.

Quick question, simply for planning purposes: will anyone be providing food & drinks at the event? It's just great to know beforehand. Thanks very much; looking forward to it.

Hey all, ping me if you'd like 15 minutes to discuss your project. We at Neo have some interesting examples, but it's a lot more powerful to hear what you all have been working on. Email me (allison at neotechnology dot com) or message me here. We want to get a queue lined up. thanks!

yeah, looked lately and there are 30 something people hanging out there. would certainly be cool to get more activity going, and set up public logging. WDYT?

Hi everyone, I just wanted to give a plug for the #neo4j channel on the freenode IRC network (freenode network information at http://www.freenode.net , a web client at http://webchat.freenode.net/ , and for people unfamiliar with IRC an introduction at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Relay_Chat ). The #neo4j channel is generally very quiet but it could be a useful forum for real-time discussions among users between meetups :)
