One of the highest peaks in Karnataka, at a height of 1894m or 6214 ft., Kudremukh, is a popular region amongst tourists, trekkers and nature lovers. The peak is shaped like that of a horse?s face - ?Kudre? implies ?Horse? and ?Mukh? implies ?Face? and hence the name. The area is covered with dense forests, plain grasslands, rivers, waterfalls and caves. Kudremukh National Park is home to a large number of inhabitants. The National Park houses world?s largest number of ?Lion Tailed Macaque?. These creatures are shy and move into hiding in the presence of humans. It may however, be possible to spot one of these during a trip to Kudremukh.

Murudeshwar, the pilgrimage paradise and a scenic holy place, has recently shot into prominence as one of the loveliest spots in Karnataka. Bounded by the shimmering sea and rolling hills, the place is a favorite picnic spot.
The sea is an intrinsic part of the temple scape at Murudeshwar. The sea surrounds the temple towering on the small hill called Kanduka Giri on three sides.
