Matheren- Get Surrounded By Beauty- 14th Nov

About Matheran
Matheran is a city and a Hill Station municipal council in Raigad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is a hill station in Karjat Tahsil and is also the smallest hill station in India. It is located on the Western Ghats range at an elevation of around 800 m (2,625 feet) above sea level. It is located around 90 km from Mumbai, and 120 km from Pune. Matheran's proximity to the three Metros makes it a popular weekend getaway for urban residents. The name Matheran means either "forest on top" or "mother forest".

Moving in Matheran

Thanks everyone for the help. This is definitely not the right time to visit this place, but the day one trek in the sun was worth it. I second Sethu and Prashanth CS regarding Planning, Organising and team Coordination. Anyways, Special thanks to Ganesh for help, especially for negotiating with the zip lining guy for me to give me a minute in the middle of the valley to take some snaps :)

Thanks everyone once again, enjoyed your company. I have uploaded this trek pics on flickr at the link below. Hope to see you all some other time.

And Last but not the Least
A Big Round of applauds to the Young Organizers for completing the Planned items part of this Trek.
of course with the noticeable flips/flops as listed in the below sections of the feedback.

I'm sure that the organizers are going to consider each flaw side as a Learning and handle the same in more better way in all future projects.

I thoroughly encourage the Child like Nature, Maturity Levels and the Positive Attitudes in all of us and Wish us all MOST & MORE ahead in our lives :) Finally, this is all FUN, RELAXATION & LEARNING in various angles.

Now it is time declare the The HEROs of TREK.
And it is none other than Shivang and Melvin :)

It was great, enjoyed a lot. I liked the company of Praveen, Rakesh, Sowjanya, Sethu, Satya & Gopinath. I think, we bonded well as a group. I hope that they also feel the same. The scenaries at some of the sightseeing places like Sunset Point, Alexander Point and Echo Point was awsome and spectacular. Also, the distance we covered from Ambewadi to Matheran Hill was tough and tiring but enjoyed the same. Specially the view from the top of the hill was great. Last, but not the least, the Toy train ride and shopping at market place also were good. Looking forward to more such trips with the same group in the future.

    Ton of Thanks
for the helping hands - at all needed times
for the patience - for accepting and moving along with varied personalities, attitudes.
for the right motivation - when one is giving up while dying with the energies
and for the many tips while trekking
especially at the very hard, tough section of the initial trekking (Ambevadi to Matheren) and all phases of the Trip :)

The trip was not up to my expectations for the reasons below:
    1. Train tickets of the whole group were not booked adjacently. The group was split into multiple subgroups while both the journeys.
    2. Routes & local co-ordination by GHAC was very poor. Proper co-ordination for local travel arrangements is a must.
    3. Coordinators of the meetup should primarily focus on gathering everyone into one single group ALL the time during the trip rather than moving out in groups of 2/3.
    4. Food expenditures which were to be bore by the individuals have to be clearly communicated upfront. Impromptu asking of individuals to bear meal expenses on a no-ATM place shows lack of proper planning & co-ordination.

I personally had a very high expectation from this trip based on my previous experiences with within the city GHAC meetup sports groups. But it wasn't satisfactory.
