  • Leaves don't rustle! Water doesn't trickle! Grasses stop to move! Even the wind pauses to hold its breath and watch the drama unfold! Then all of a sudden the Jungle springs to life! Langurs groan. Branches of trees begin to swing under their springing jumps. Fleeting hooves rustle the grass. Heavy bodies splash the water. Spotted Deers let out the alarm call. Let it be known - the King is here - "Hail, the King!" Lesser creatures flee. The King sweeps a gaze over his Kingdom. Period. Utter silence. Then the show begins. In a flash the news is all over the jungle: A Tiger is afoot.

    Words from Dr. Abheek Gosh.

In my most preferred Gypsy – the legendary Explorer-I with a group of journalist friends from Sweden, chatter stops and binoculars and long-lens cameras rise into place. Then all of a sudden - An Utter Silence !! Throughout the forest - creatures freeze in place, eyes widened, ears perked, nostrils flared. Silence. A palpable tension is in the air. A feeling that someone or something is watching us unseen. An errie spine chilling feeling. Then out of nowhere "Dhaaaaaank !!" - cries out a Sambhar deer. We get into position to capture some Wildcat action. At first, nothing. Then, just barely visible, a great, muscular wraith creeping through the tangled undergrowth. Its stripes rendering it nearly undetectable; it makes no sound. "If you can hear it walking," whispers my driver, guide and spotter, Lallan Gop , "it's not a tiger." He maneuvers Explorer-I into the most likely spot for the best possible viewing angle. We stand motionless, holding our breath, fingers poised on shutters, collectively willing it to step into the open. And then, to my utter surprise 4 cute tiger cubs stroll out on the road following the collared Tigress of Pench.........

    Detailed plan:

4 safaris in Gypsies in every search party.
    Stay in Cottages.

Reading about my encounters may give you a false sense of hope that viewing wild tigers is easy. Infact it is just the opposite. When you go to a jungle with high hopes of seeing a Tiger 99 times out of 100 you are going to come back empty handed. I always advise my friends coming with me during my wild travels to keep Tiger sighting their least priority. It is then when magical encounters happen !!!

I understand that most of you must have traveled to jungles and have enough experience. But, keeping in mind the safety of the group as a whole, after giving due consideration to what each of us have to say - I will make the final call.
