Become a lifeguard – Pre-requisite test for lifeguard training by the RLSS

Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India) is a comprehensive organization that has something for everyone. RLSS wants all Indians to lead safe lives, be conscious about their safety and learn to help a person in distress on land and in water.

Join hands to work towards preventing accidental deaths amongst our people.  There are various ways in which people can volunteer their time. By joining the Indian Lifesaving Movement, you can commit yourself to be part of an activity which helps save lives, build leadership skills, develop better human beings and encourage all Indians to lead a fit life. This is not just any movement, but a way of life.

The possibilities are endless.

About this event: This is a prerequisite test to determine if you are capable enough to take on the task and responsibility of saving a human life. It’s a serious event, so if you are only interested in fooling around, please do not RSVP.

If you get through with the skills test in this event, you can step up and participate in the RLSS lifeguard training program, that we will be setting up which will have qualified and certified trainers coming from the RLSS team to give us training and certify us. More on that soon…

The skill test will comprise 3 parts.  To participate, you must meet the following fitness criteria:

  • Tread water
  • Jump or dive into deep water
  • Swim 50m in 60 seconds
  • Swim 100m continuously, on both front and back strokes
  • Be able to swim, whilst towing a casualty

The tests are as follows:

  • Continuous swimming, either breast stroke or crawl stroke, for 500 meters in 15 minutes.
  • Starting in the water, swim 20 meters using the front crawl or breaststroke; surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 5 kg object, return to the surface; swim 20 meters back to the starting point, while maintaining two hands on the object and exit the water without using ladder or steps, within 2 minutes (this test will depend on logistics and pool compatibility – will be notified as required, but come prepared).

Successful completion of the events listed above will shortlist you for participation in the RLSS lifeguard training program, which requires a minimum of 15 members.

Do note: The organizer's decision is final in all matters relating to the event.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
