FESTIVAL TIME
The advent of Sankranti brings along a plethora of games - from kite flying to playing marbles. Bring in the unbridled enthusiasm for the traditional Indian games most of which have been lost in the passage of time.
Let us bring the spirit of fun and games back - just like when we had fun during our younger days.
From flying kites, to Lattoos (spinning tops), Marbles, Hopscotch (Tokkudu Billa) and Gilli Ganda. Infact, we are thinking of more games we can add on.
This special GHAC Adventurers Family event will be held from 8 am to 1 pm on Sunday, 13th January 2013 at Kohe Imam Zamin, Ammuguda. Secunderabad.
Special Attraction : Rangoli Competiton for Everyone

Bring your own Rangoli colours to participate. 2 winners will get attractive prizes.
Activities Planned :
1. Kite Flying:
The big colorful kites and the abrasive string (manja). Be ready to cut the strings….
2. Gilli Danda:
Cricket and baseball has to be a spin-off from this . One talks about the sound of the willow, how about the sound of the danda when it hits the gilli?

3. Marbles(Kanche):
Ah...the ubiquitous game! The small glass marbles came in different sizes and colors. Fill your pockets with them and run around, and the noise they used to make . Remember trading them with your friends and recovering the loot after you won a game? There is even a World Marbles Championship now!
4. Seven stones(Pitto or Lagori):
Make a pile of flat stones and try to knock then down with the ball. While you try to pile up the knocked off stones again, the other team tries to hit you with the ball and get you out. So have you ever shouted "Pitto or Lagoriiii...."? If Not then do not miss this time..
5. Hopping(Langadi Taang):
The children’s game of hopping has been a popular playground activity for years.
6. Lattoo :
I never figured out how to do it properly. The rope always used to slip.
But what fun it was to see some guys going for the battle of the tops where one would try to spin the top as long as possible, and do some tricks too like spinning the top on the hands.

And Lots of other traditional games.
If time permits we will play Kho-Kho too…
Note: Kites, thread and manja will be sold on the spot at wholesale rates. Please place an advance order in your RSVP for what you need. Equipment for Gilli Danda, Marbles, Lattoo and Seven Stones will be provided by GHAC.
Food: We will also have a tasty Chaat food Bandi, Coconut Water seller, Ice Cream cart, drinking water for refills and a sweet corn seller at the venue.

What to Carry Along : A Water Bottle and loads of energy to have fun.Camera to capture the fun moments. Sunscreen gel if you need UV protection. Sunshades for your eyes. Anything & Everything festive to share & make new friends.

A big thank you to all the participants of the GHAC Sankranti Special that was held today at Ammuguda. The event had a mix of it all - kites, marbles, seven stones, gilli danda, hopscotch... The event was well organized by Amit Singh, Kiran Kotakonda and team of organizers who did the hard work in getting the kites and other accessories. Maneesh, Aleem and Ibrahim did a wonderful job of organizing the snacks. Swati handled the registrations with aplomb, while Farida was confidence personified in handling the merchandise sales. And to all those who turned up - it's all of you who made this event possible. Great job guys.
