October meetups and events are scheduled on the calendar and do we have a full and fun month! Besides two regular meetups on October 2nd at the Cedar Bark Park and October 15th at Norwood Park, this month has four other dog and family friendly events all benefitting local rescues.
This Saturday, October 1st from 1:00 - 4:30 is Barkitecture on 2nd Street in the downtown 2nd Street District. Come on out and see some unique and creative dog houses designed by some of Austin's best architects and designers. There will also be a doggie fashion show.
On October 8th from 10:00 to 6:00, the Austin Pet Expo will take place at the Travis County Exposition Center. Admission and parking is free and the theme is Shop, Learn, Play, Adopt. There will be lots of vendors, demonstrations, information and prizes to be given out.
On Saturday the 22nd, Dogtoberfest at the Domain will take place from 10:00 to 4:00 pm. There will be lots of vendors, a silent auction and the big Costume Contest sponsored by KXAN. (I have to brag that Lucy and Sadie won the Best Group category last year as the Chick-Fil-A Cows!).
Then the very next day, Sunday October 23, the Howl'oween Rescue Spooktacular takes place at the Hill Country Galleria from 11:00 to 3:30. They will have vendors and a costume contest as well. The entry fee for the contest is new or gently used dog items such as toys, leashes, collars, or a cash donation. Also taking place at the Galleria that day is the Rolling Sculpture Car Show. There will be some fabulous vintage and classic cars on display as well as live music.
October should bring us some cooler weather, so check the website and calendar for more information on all these events and bring the pups and the family out and enjoy all the fun activities.
